University Lecturer in Electrical Engineering with a Focus on Electronics

In electrical engineering, new needs arise as a large part of the industry and vehicle fleet is to be electrified, which places new demands on competence and applicability.

The research group in electrical engineering at Högskolan Väst is very engaged in the ongoing transition, and as both research and teaching activities are expanding, we constantly need new employees.

Our research and educational activities take place in close collaboration with industry, both locally and nationally and internationally. Our technically oriented programs span both basic and advanced levels. The educational offerings are complemented by a wide range of independent courses within both the regular offerings and in the form of commissioned training for professionals. One of the university's prioritized areas is research and teaching in electrical engineering, and we are therefore looking for a university lecturer in the field.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Development and creation of teaching materials
  • Development of pedagogical methods
  • Supervision of students
  • Coordination within the teaching group
  • Teaching and education

Eligibility requirements for the position of university lecturer:

  • Demonstrated pedagogical skills (4 chap. 4 § HF). Applicants who lack pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university's eligibility requirements, but this may have been achieved in ways other than within the academic environment.
  • Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If higher education pedagogical training is lacking, employment can still occur on the condition that the employee completes the training during the first two years of employment.
  • Completed doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence or some other professional skill that is significant with regard to the subject content of the position and the tasks that will be included in the position (4 chap. 4 § HF).

For this position, the following is also required:

  • Doctoral degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Teaching experience
  • Project management of research projects
  • Ability to teach in Swedish
  • Industrial experience

Desirable for the position is:

  • Teaching experience from Swedish higher education institutions
  • Experience from international higher education institutions
  • Experience in supervising doctoral students

  • Other professional skills

In the assessment, collaborative skills will be weighted first, scientific skills second, and pedagogical skills third. Administrative skills, leadership skills, and other professional skills will be weighted equally and placed fourth. When hiring a university lecturer, equal care should be taken in assessing pedagogical skills as in evaluating other eligibility-related conditions.

In the assessment of skills, the subject area of the position, subject description, and tasks will be considered.

Other:

This is a fixed-term position for nine months. The position is full-time. Intended start date is March 1 or by agreement.

In the selection process, it may be relevant to conduct trial lectures, work samples, interviews, and reference checks. Interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis.
