Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Hiring More Staff
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where everyone is responsible for different roles in carrying out client transports. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will search, restrain with handcuffs, and supervise the client during transport.
The Transport Department's assignments are varied, meaning your working hours may change from day to day. Evening, night, and weekend work may be included. The scheduled hours are frame times, usually 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Nationally, it is more common to finish before the frame time ends, and in most cases, you will have a consistent start time. Frame time means that the employer can change the start and end times. Changes will be communicated before the previous shift ends. Working hours are adjusted, and if you work more than planned, you will receive overtime compensation. If you work less than planned, you will still receive your normal salary.
Before you start with us, you will receive an introduction to help you feel secure in your new role. The introduction lasts for two weeks. Together, we will agree on when it suits you best to complete the introduction, based on the available introduction sessions we can offer. The introduction should be completed before the vacation period begins, and we prefer that you finish it by week 24.
For the Transport Department, the vacation period extends from week 27 to week 34, with the possibility of extra work before and after the summer period for those who wish.
With us, you will gain more than just a summer job – you will gain an experience that strengthens you for the future, regardless of where your career takes you!
