Swedish Prison and Probation Service is Growing – We Are Building New Facilities!
We are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.
The Gävle area includes the closed prison Gävle, the open prison Gruvberget, and the remand prison Bomhus. Our operations run around the clock, and the largest professional group is prison officers, with support from over ten other positions to ensure our mission. In the prisons Gävle and Gruvberget, inmates are engaged in education, other structured activities, treatment programs, self-management, or work primarily consisting of carpentry production. You can easily reach the prison Gävle and the remand prison Bomhus by public transport; access to a car is required for the prison Gruvberget. Staff parking is available.
The Falun/Östersund/Gävle area includes the remand prison Falun, the remand prison Östersund, and the remand prison Gävle. This recruitment only concerns the prison Gävle/remand prison Bomhus and remand prison Gävle - this will be the location where you will be substituting. The remand prisons Falun and Östersund and the prison Gruvberget will not be part of your responsibilities.
Since the idea is for you to substitute for our regular staff during the holiday period, we would like you to be available for work throughout the entire period.
- For the Prison Gävle and Remand Prison Bomhus, we want you to be available during weeks 23-34.
- For Remand Prison Gävle, we want you to be available during weeks 24-35.
Before you start as a summer substitute, you will undergo a 2-week full-time introduction, and we prefer that you participate for 2 consecutive weeks. For the prison Gävle and Remand Prison Bomhus, introduction sessions will be held in week 12, week 17, and week 21. For remand prison Gävle, introduction sessions will be held in week 16 Monday-Friday and week 17 Saturday-Sunday. There may also be opportunities to work extra before your summer period begins, as well as to extend your employment or continue with extra work after the summer.
We are continuously working with selections in this process, which means you may be contacted before the application period ends. We warmly welcome your application today!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a prison officer at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you will be part of a team where you have daily contact with clients. Work at the remand prison is often routine-based and focused on care and security tasks. Clients may be detained for long periods without meeting anyone other than their lawyer and the staff at the remand prison, which places special demands on you as a prison officer.
