JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The residency is an educational position! Training occurs through our internal training program and the opportunity to attend external courses. Education also takes place through self-study but primarily through daily clinical work under supervision at various clinics. You are expected to be a part of the clinical everyday life and perform medical work in such a way that the objectives can be met.

You can choose whether you want an 18 or 21-month residency after being offered a position. If you choose the 21-month residency, there is room for 8 weeks of elective placements at any clinic or alternatively 12 weeks of research time (Research Residency).

Regardless of the length of the residency block, you will initially receive a well-structured introduction of two weeks, followed by scheduled teaching sessions each week. In addition to your clinical supervisors, you will have a mentor who follows you and your residency group throughout the residency period. You will also receive 10 study days to use for relevant external courses, conferences, self-study, and residency exams.

On-call - at all placements, you can expect to be part of the primary on-call line and will have the opportunity to work more independently, but with access to a competent licensed physician colleague.

QUALIFICATIONS

A medical degree and a passed background check are required for employment. Experience as a junior doctor both before and after graduation, preferably in Region Kronoberg, is advantageous. Other relevant higher education, research merits, and doctoral degrees are also advantageous. Other forms of previous employment and education in Region Kronoberg are also meritorious.

If you have a foreign degree, a decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare regarding residency according to their procedures is required, as well as Swedish language skills at level C.

After deciding which applicants we wish to offer residency positions, Region Kronoberg will request an extract from the police authority regarding suspicion and criminal records before offering employment.

As a resident physician, you have the ability to organize and plan your work well and handle stress constructively. It is also important that you are unpretentious in your actions, easily collaborate with others, and find solutions to arising problems.
