Operational Leader at SiS Youth Home Hässleholm
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. No matter where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Hässleholm is a locked institution with four treatment departments, two departments for reception and needs assessment (MBB), and an open TFCO unit. We primarily receive school-age boys but also girls, who are involved in ongoing criminal activities and, in some cases, substance abuse.
Job Description
Do you want to help create the vital difference for vulnerable people? Then the job as an operational leader is a meaningful role. In the role of operational leader, you are responsible for institution-wide coordination and management of ongoing work outside office hours, in the evenings and nights, to promote a safe care and work environment. You guide and support your colleagues in their work and ensure that the work is conducted legally and in accordance with applicable governing documents, methods, and set goals. You communicate identified deficiencies and deviations from routines to relevant managers. You also collaborate closely with alarm leaders and ensure that necessary measures are implemented according to decisions, guidelines, and routines after an incident occurs. Collaboration with other care services, police, and authorities is an important part of the operational leader's role. You establish and update security assessments as needed in consultation with the safety coordinator, make decisions regarding coercive measures according to LVU, LSU, and in accordance with SiS's work and delegation regulations.
The work can often be stressful, with multiple decisions and events occurring simultaneously, where you are the calm leader who directs and distributes the work to all staff on duty.
The working hours are scheduled during inconvenient hours and weekends with a fixed rotating schedule covering days, evenings, and awake nights. You work weekends every other week.
You will work under the night unit manager, and together with their leadership, you will develop a strategic plan for the operational work during both day and night. During inconvenient working hours, you will lead all treatment staff and night staff at the institution. This requires your planning ability and collaboration skills. Many situations and events that arise can be of an urgent nature, which means you must have good physical fitness and be resilient to stress.
Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in this role, we believe you are a stable person who remains calm even in stressful situations. You have the willingness and ability to act according to applicable decisions, guidelines, and policies. You have a holistic view and act in the best interest of the organization. Furthermore, you are structured in your work and have a good ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
You should also have:
- Relevant higher education such as social worker, behavioral scientist, or other equivalent higher education, or at least a two-year vocational education (treatment pedagogue) along with experience working within SiS or similar operations.
- Several years of experience working within SiS or other operations focused on care, treatment, and safety, such as social services, care and treatment, correctional services, or other relevant fields.
- Good ability to lead, prioritize, and coordinate a workgroup.
At SiS, we value good leadership. This means that you as a manager and leader take responsibility for the whole, act as a good role model, drive development, promote good cooperation, and communicate clearly. Read more about our leadership.
Employment:
The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement. Working hours are distributed across days, evenings, and nights.
SiS actively works against all forms of discrimination and welcomes all applicants.
For work at our institutions, SiS conducts background checks before employment.
In preparation for the recruitment process, the Swedish National Board of Institutional Care has made decisions regarding recruitment channels and marketing. Therefore, we kindly ask not to contact media sellers, recruitment sites, or similar.
