The Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) unit is part of the specialized surgery department, which also includes hand surgery, jaw surgery, and plastic surgery. The department belongs to Skåne University Hospital (Sus). Within ENT, we are about 60 doctors divided into two sections: Head and Neck Surgery with Phoniatrics and Logopedics (HH-Fon) and Otorhinolaryngology and Trauma (Oto-Rino).

Within the organization, we provide complete regional and university healthcare in ENT with a focus on highly specialized care, distributed across two workplaces, Lund and Malmö. In Lund, there is inpatient care and virtually all elective outpatient services. In Malmö, there is a well-established day surgery unit with the possibility of inpatient surgery and a number of care beds. On-call and consultation services as well as teaching of medical students are available at both hospitals. We also conduct extensive research activities.

The HH-Fon section includes surgical treatment of malignancies in the head and neck region as well as benign tumor conditions. We also perform diagnostics and surgical and other treatments for voice and throat diseases. The Oto-Rino section includes rhinology with nasal and sinus surgery, including anterior skull base surgery, trauma surgery, and allergological activities, as well as otology with ear surgery (including CI surgery), audiology, and vestibular diagnostics/treatment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We welcome a specialist doctor to the HH-Fon section's tumor team.

As an employee with us, you have opportunities to develop within the section's activities. On-call work (primary and/or backup on-call) in both Lund and Malmö is included in the position. As an employee at Sus, teaching is included both in medical education and specialist training as well as for other professional groups. You are also expected to be active in research.

Your primary place of work is Lund, but work in Malmö is included.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed physician with the authority to practice in Swedish healthcare. Furthermore, you have specialist competence in Ear, Nose, and Throat diseases. Language skills in Swedish at least corresponding to level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s scale is a requirement. You should have completed or planned a course in clinical supervision. Active research work as well as previous experience and documented quality work for cutaneous and mucosal malignant melanomas are meritorious.

As a person, you have a strong interest in the field of ENT and a positive attitude towards research, development, and teaching. You work meticulously, are creative, have good decision-making ability, and possess good surgical skills. Since the work is largely team-based, high demands are placed on responsiveness, good collaboration skills, and a willingness to work in a group. Furthermore, you are flexible and can quickly adapt to changing circumstances. Personal suitability is highly valued.

At a university hospital unit, it is required that doctors have pedagogical experience and education. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students as well as doctors in training and as co- or main supervisors of doctoral candidates. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience in supervision, and teaching at various levels.
