to apply for the job
Make a difference. Every day.
We need to expand our important work at our recovery unit! Are you a nurse looking for the opportunity to develop and broaden your knowledge in advanced postoperative care? If so, we welcome your application to our exciting organization.
At the thoracic clinic in Lund, approximately 2,000 surgeries and interventions are performed each year, including around 1,300 heart surgeries and about 600 lung procedures. The clinic is one of Sweden's two centers for thoracic transplantation surgery and also has a national mission for the operation and care of adult patients with congenital heart defects (ACHD).
At the recovery unit (THUVA), we have a close collaboration with the Thoracic Intensive Care Unit (THIVA) to care for patients postoperatively. Our unit has two rooms located within THIVA. In one of the rooms, patients are cared for around the clock. The other room is staffed between 10 AM and 6 PM, where patients with shorter postoperative care needs, up to a few hours, are treated. The pace of work is variable, with periods of high flow of recovery patients.
The proximity to THIVA creates a sense of security and provides great opportunities for development. An interest in further education in areas such as intensive care is also seen as positive, as recovery units work closely with THIVA and can feel like a natural step in your further development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In our unit, we care for patients who have undergone heart or lung surgery and have good conditions for quick recovery. Patients have varying lengths of stay depending on the procedure, ranging from a few hours to a day in the recovery unit before being transferred to the lung or thoracic surgical ward for further postoperative care. When you start with us, you will receive an individual introduction with theory and shadowing tailored to your previous knowledge and experience. After the introduction, you will have a mentor, and you will meet regularly for structured meetings during your first year in the recovery unit to ensure you feel secure in your role.
Everyone in the unit works three shifts between Monday and Saturday. The unit closes after the day shift on Saturday and on public holidays.
