About us

Runby School is a K-9 school located in Västra Väsby, with the forest as its nearest neighbor. The school has a sports and outdoor profile that we cherish. The school is growing and currently has about 1,200 students, including special needs education and a municipal autism school. We are now looking for a teaching assistant for grade 6 in the middle school unit.

About the position

The position of teaching assistant means that you are an additional supportive adult in the school where you collaborate with all classes in grade 6 and staff in the 6-9 work team. Here, there are various professions such as class teachers, special education teachers, subject teachers, and teaching assistants.

You will work in the school and help students who need support to keep up with the teaching. This may involve reading and writing difficulties, concentration problems, or psychosocial challenges. Your primary role is to build relationships with the students so that they feel secure, which means it is beneficial if you have training in coaching conversations and conflict management.

The tasks can vary greatly, making the work diverse and rewarding for those who want to work with children. However, the job also requires both competence and personal qualities from those working in the profession.

Examples of tasks may include:

• Helping the student find calm in their studies
• Assisting in finding individual solutions for the student to acquire knowledge
• Helping the student practice everyday tasks
• Being a support for students during breaks, in changing rooms, and on excursions, etc.

A significant part of the position involves being with the students both during breaks and in the classroom, where extra support may be needed.

The responsible teacher has the main responsibility for how the work in the classroom is conducted, and as a teaching assistant, you often work under the teacher's instruction. Occasionally, you may need to step in as a substitute. Therefore, we expect you to be solution-oriented and flexible.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

• A teaching assistant education or equivalent
• Experience integrating digital tools into your work, preferably with experience in Schoolsoft and Google environment. It is an advantage if you have further education and/or extensive experience in neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF) and training in low-arousal approaches.
