Researcher in Cancer Immunotherapy

The Department of Immunology, Genetics and Pathology at Uppsala University has a broad research profile with strong research groups focused on cancer, genetic and autoimmune diseases. One of the core ideas at the department is to stimulate translational research and thereby promote closer collaboration between medical research and healthcare. Research is conducted within six research programs: cancer precision medicine, cancer immunotherapy, genomics and neurobiology, molecular tools and functional genomics, neuro-oncology and neurodegeneration, as well as vascular biology. Parts of the activities are also integrated with the departments of oncology, clinical genetics, clinical immunology, clinical pathology, and hospital physics at Uppsala Academic Hospital. The department has teaching assignments in several program educations, standalone courses, and international master's programs within the medical faculty and the technical-nature sciences area. The department has a turnover of approximately 550 million SEK, of which about two-thirds are external research grants. The number of employees is about 400, of which about 100 are doctoral students, and there are a total of over 850 active in the workforce. Job Responsibilities:

• Further development of a new immunotherapy-based treatment for cancer
• Modification of adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors for targeting tumor blood vessels and evaluation of these AAV vectors both in vitro and in vivo
• Scale up the production of and develop purification procedures for the developed AAV vector
• Assist in the transfer process to the production of the AAV vector according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
• Assist in establishing clinical treatment protocols, Investigator’s Brochure (IB), Investigational Medicinal Product Dossiers (IMPD) for the developed AAV vector

Qualifications:

• PhD in the research fields of gene therapy or immunotherapy
• Experience from postdoctoral studies in gene and/or immunotherapy (preferably 3 years or more)
• Solid experience in the development of viral vectors, including AAV vectors
• Solid knowledge of AAV biology
• Solid experience working with primary human and murine cells (including immune cells and cells from blood vessels)
• Experience working with fresh tumor tissue
• Solid experience in flow cytometry
• Solid experience in microscopy
