Vattenfall AB Värme Uppsala produces and delivers approximately 1500 GWh of district heating in Uppsala, Knivsta, and Storvreta. In Uppsala, we also produce and deliver district cooling, steam, and the facility generates electricity. The operation consists of waste incineration as the base and mainly biomass-fired plants as a complement during the colder part of the year.
In Sweden, we deliver district heating, district cooling, and steam to industries, property owners, and residential customers in fifteen municipalities. Värme Sverige is the fourth largest district heating supplier in Sweden, providing sustainable heating to around 200,000 Swedish households and heat, cooling, and steam to industrial customers. We are particularly proud that our main product, district heating, plays an important role in the new circular society.
About the Role

Vattenfall Värme is now looking for an automation engineer with system management responsibility who wants to help shape tomorrow's climate-smart society and assist our customers in transitioning to a fossil-free life.
As a senior automation engineer, you will be involved in planning and monitoring the preventive and corrective maintenance of analysis, control, and regulation equipment. You will also participate in renovation and extension projects as a requirements setter and be part of the procurement of framework agreements and similar.
You will have system responsibility and management responsibility for parts of the facility's automation systems and networks, which includes:
- collecting change requests and assessing them together with other stakeholders
- planning for the lifespan and development of our automation systems
- proposing management and development budgets for system owners
- developing frameworks and requirements for projects and ensuring compliance
- supporting our own staff and consultants
- Tech IT security responsibility
The role also includes being part of the corrective maintenance, both as an executor and as support for our technicians. You will work in our maintenance system SAP-PM with facility registers, work order management, maintenance plans, etc.
The work is varied; for example, you will find yourself out in our operations close to our core activities, participate in project meetings, work in teams, but also independently in and outside your office.
The position also includes scheduled on-call duty.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education, civil engineer, engineering degree, or a YH degree focused on automation/energy technology/electrical power.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation and maintenance/management within a similar industry.
- High competence in Siemens DCS, PLC/SCADA, computers (PC/VMware/vSphere), and networks.
- Good ability to express yourself in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
- A valid driver's license (B) is required.
- Competence in SAP PM/MM is an advantage.
