Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions.
We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Welcome to us
We are launching a new initiative within social services - untested in Sweden but proven internationally.
A method that makes a real difference for vulnerable children and families!
Järva City District Administration and Enskede-Årsta-Vantör City District Administration, together with the Social Administration, have applied for project funding to start and run two MST CAN teams as the first municipality in Sweden for three years. The project will run for three years starting in April 2026, provided that the necessary funds are granted. If the results are favorable, the plan is to scale up the initiative in Stockholm City after the project period. This is a unique opportunity to be part of starting and building a new initiative in Sweden.
MST-CAN is an evidence-based and intensive treatment method for families where children aged 6–17 are exposed to violence, neglect, or serious lack of care. Treatment primarily takes place in the family's home, at times that suit the family. The treatment is clearly structured and is based on close collaboration around the child. The method is adapted for complex issues, including trauma and substance abuse in both parents and children.
An MST-CAN team works with about 12–15 families per year and consists of a team leader, four family therapists, and a family resource. The work is done in close collaboration between Järva City District Administration and Enskede-Årsta-Vantör City District Administration, where on-call duty is shared between the teams around the clock. The position is a project employment for 3 years.
If you are interested in applying for a job in our teams in Stockholm, you can join an information meeting in collaboration with an MST CAN therapist from Norway on January 30 from 09:00 to 10:30. You can join at the specified time via the link Join the information meeting (https://example.com).

Your role
As a family resource, you are often the one who creates safety when the situation is most fragile. You have a clear focus on the child's safety and actively work to ensure that it is always at the center. In this role, you assist the team by collecting, assessing, processing, and structuring information to create a clear overall picture of the family's situation. The material is used to understand, analyze, and communicate with the family and with partners.
You conduct safety checks in close collaboration with the team, act in emergencies, and are responsible for implementing crisis and safety plans. You also provide support in collecting urine samples for drug and/or alcohol testing for parents or youth with substance abuse issues. An important part of the assignment is to create and maintain good professional relationships with actors around the family. You are responsible for follow-up and documentation according to the requirements from the client and MST Services.
The work requires high availability and flexibility as well as adherence to the principles of the MST-CAN model. Participation in training, supervision, and consultation is included. You work independently but always with the support of the team, supervision, and method. The role includes on-call duty around the clock according to a schedule shared between the teams in Järva City District Administration and Enskede-Årsta-Vantör City District Administration. Your employment is as a family therapist, but your everyday title is family resource.
