Summer Job as Recycling Worker in Skellefteå Municipality

With us, you will work with sustainability issues in practice while gaining valuable experience in service work within municipal operations. You will be part of an important mission – making everyday life work for everyone living and working in the municipality.

We are now looking for summer workers and seasonal workers for our recycling centers in Skellefteå municipality. The work is either located at Degermyran in Skellefteå or at our outer recycling centers in Bureå, Burträsk, Byske, Boliden, Jörn, Lövånger, and Ursviken.

Seasonal work at Degermyran runs from May to October. Summer jobs run from June to August.

YOUR ROLE

As a recycling worker, you are the face of Skellefteå municipality at the recycling center. You meet residents who come to drop off their waste, help them sort correctly, answer questions, and contribute to a safe and professional reception.

Your tasks include:

• informing and guiding visitors in waste sorting
• ensuring that the recycling center is clean, safe, and pleasant
• reporting discrepancies and contributing to a good working environment

For those with the right qualifications, the job may also involve driving a truck or wheel loader.

If you are applying for a summer job at the outer recycling centers, the work will require you to be mobile between several facilities based on operational needs. This means you may work at different locations during the summer rather than at a fixed site.

At Degermyran, there is an opportunity for a more stationed position. Here we are looking for both summer workers and seasonal workers.

Working hours may include day, evening, and weekend shifts. We prefer that you can work full-time, but part-time may also be an option.

YOUR COMPETENCE AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who has experience and enjoys service-oriented work where you meet people in their everyday lives. You have a calm and professional demeanor, collaborate well with others, and take responsibility for your work. You can work independently when needed and have a solution-oriented approach to daily tasks.

You have sufficient digital skills to be able to report your hours and handle simple administrative tasks in our systems.

The work takes place largely outdoors and in varying environments. To thrive and function in the role, you need to have good physical conditions to work outdoors regardless of the weather. The work involves manual lifting and moving.

We primarily expect you to be at least 18 years old. For work at Degermyran, in some cases, you who are 17 years old may also be considered, depending on the tasks.

To perform the job, you need to communicate clearly and understand instructions in Swedish. You should also be able to engage in simple dialogues in English.

For work at our outer recycling centers, a B driver's license is required, as the job may involve moving between different facilities.

It is an advantage if you have:

• forklift certification – at least B1 for work at outer recycling centers and at least A2 for Degermyran
• education or experience in handling hazardous waste

For work at Degermyran's waste facility, it is also advantageous if you have a wheel loader license, digital driver's card, C driver's license, and valid YKB.
