Temporary Social Worker for the Emergency Team in Financial Assistance

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Do you want to work in a dynamic and varied role where your skills make a real difference? We are currently seeking a temporary social worker for our emergency team in financial assistance.

The temporary position lasts until spring 2027. This is a role for you who thrive in a fast-paced environment with varied tasks and significant responsibility.

About the Role

As a social worker in the emergency team, you will be responsible for addressing clients' needs in the absence of regular staff. Your tasks will include meetings with clients, processing applications, and organizing and prioritizing incoming cases. You and your four team colleagues will also staff our emergency phone every afternoon, handling everything from urgent assessments to service inquiries from citizens. You will report to the unit manager.

As part of the assignment, you will introduce newly hired temporary workers and act as a mentor. We view our temporary workers as potential future colleagues, which is why both introduction and mentorship are important parts of the job, and you are expected to act as a good ambassador for the assignment within financial assistance. You will have many points of contact, both internally with colleagues and managers, and externally with partners.

Examples of Tasks Involved

  • You will process applications for financial assistance when the area's social workers are absent for shorter periods.
  • You will plan and coordinate the work for temporary workers, which also includes supervising and correcting decisions prepared by the temporary workers.
  • You will staff our emergency phone where we receive calls from both clients and other citizens.
  • You will match incoming documents with applications for financial assistance.
  • You will collaborate with the area's managers.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work
  • At least one year of experience in public authority work within financial assistance
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Worked in a team with other social workers.
  • Introduced new employees to the work.
  • Experience working within the City of Stockholm.

To succeed in this role, we see that you have:

  • Good collaboration skills – You enjoy working in a team and find it easy to build good relationships with colleagues, managers, and external actors.
  • Flexibility and adaptability – You are comfortable quickly shifting focus and handling new situations as circumstances change.
  • Structured work style – You have the ability to prioritize and organize your work even under time pressure.
  • Initiative – You take responsibility, are self-driven, and see what needs to be done without waiting for instructions.
  • Communication skills – You express yourself clearly in both speech and writing and have a respectful approach towards clients and colleagues.

We are recruiting without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In assessing your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will need to answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and succinctly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV.

Welcome with your application!

The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.

Enskede Årsta Vantör is one of 11 district administrations in the City of Stockholm. As part of the City of Stockholm, the administration offers preschool and leisure, care for the elderly and disabled, social services, preventive and safety-promoting work, urban development, and park maintenance to our 105,000 Stockholm residents living in the district. We face exciting challenges as the Enskede Årsta Vantör district grows and entirely new neighborhoods are built. Approximately 18,000 new apartments are planned by 2030.
