The Gothenburg Remand Center is one of Sweden's five secure remand centers located in the central building of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service in Gothenburg.

The Gothenburg Remand Center has space for approximately 400 clients. At the Gothenburg Remand Center, we have correctional officers, psychologists, nurses, administrators, and intelligence operators. In total, we are about 300 employees who work daily with the important mission of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and breaking the vicious cycle.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a cook, you will prepare meals for the inmates at the Gothenburg Remand Center. The tasks are all common in a large kitchen, including planning, purchasing, and preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The tasks also include cleaning the kitchen facilities, dishwashing, and self-monitoring in accordance with applicable legislation. Preparation of dietary and other special meals is also included. The kitchen team consists of six cooks, one kitchen assistant, and one kitchen manager. The work is also done in collaboration with staff in other functions.

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You remain calm and controlled in stressful situations and collaborate well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements

• Restaurant or catering education at the high school level or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.

Meritorious

• Experience working in a large kitchen
• Experience working with self-monitoring
• Experience with special diets
