Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a head chef for Svartedalen's kitchen who is passionate about cooking and service and wants to contribute to ensuring that our elderly are served good, nutritious food that forms the basis for a pleasant dining experience every day.

With us, you will lead the daily production and ensure that each meal maintains high quality, from everyday lunch and dinner to desserts that add a special touch to the day. You will be in the midst of the work alongside your colleagues, cooks, and meal assistants, and be available to support, inspire, and develop both individuals and the group as a whole.

You will work closely with the unit manager on many issues, where together you will drive the operations forward and develop the kitchen with the guests in focus. The role also includes responsibility for menu planning, recipe management, ordering, budget monitoring, and self-control, but above all, to create a work environment where joy, quality, and service permeate everything you do.

At Svartedalen, we prepare lunch, dessert, and dinner from scratch for the residents of the house and also send food to two other care homes and two senior restaurants.

You will be part of a network of head chefs where you will have the opportunity to exchange experiences, find new ideas, and help influence the development of meals in a broader context. There is room for creativity and the security of working in a close-knit team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Daily operations in the kitchen (production and staffing)
• Quality assurance of meals
• Menu planning and recipe management
• Ordering food and supplies as well as invoice management
• Self-control
• Kitchen budget

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the right skills and commitment, you should have:

• Head chef training or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• Several years of experience as a cook
• At least one year of experience leading work in a restaurant or large kitchen
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, as the position involves close collaboration with both colleagues, staff, and customers.

Meritorious:

• Good computer skills and previous experience working with dietary software, especially Matilda.
• Good knowledge of special diets and texture-adapted diets.

To succeed in the role of head chef with us, a sense of responsibility is required, and you need to work in a structured manner and ensure that what you start is completed with good results. You have the ability to plan and organize the work in a clear way that gives the group the conditions to deliver meals of good quality.

You are confident in yourself and remain stable even in pressured situations. You can make well-founded decisions and maintain focus even when the pace is high. You are also a relationship builder who creates motivation and joy at work around you.
