Specialist Doctor/Consultant Surgeon in Surgery

At Halland Hospital in Varberg, we are looking for an engaged and experienced specialist doctor/consultant surgeon in surgery, focusing on endocrine surgical diseases, who wants to contribute to high-quality care for our patients.

About the Job

We are now seeking a consultant surgeon/specialist doctor for our endocrine surgery department in Varberg. The section provides elective care primarily focused on surgical treatment of diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. Depending on the applicant's competence, some other endocrine surgical procedures may also be relevant.

The patient base is somewhat smaller than what fills a full-time position, and working partially within another surgical section, or a reduced service level, is relevant. Suitable section and other tasks will be determined individually based on the applicant's areas of expertise.

Work processes and certain operative procedures are carried out in collaboration with colleagues in the same section at Halmstad Hospital. Since the work is conducted as the sole responsible for the operations in Varberg, it is expected that the applicant has sufficient knowledge in the field to independently and safely perform standard procedures. Supervision of residents and to some extent interns within the area of operations is part of the job.

Depending on your competence and development needs, parts of the work may also be carried out at Halmstad Hospital.

The surgical clinic at Halland Hospital is an organizational unit with three service points: Kungsbacka, Varberg, and Halmstad. The clinic provides both emergency and elective inpatient and outpatient care. Both hospitals have endoscopic centers, where diagnostic, therapeutic, and screening activities are performed. Management of malignant upper gastrointestinal surgery and obesity surgery is concentrated in Varberg, while vascular surgery is located in Halmstad. Colorectal and breast surgery are available at both hospitals.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed physician, specialist in surgery with several years of experience in the profession. You should be able to perform commonly occurring endocrine surgical procedures completely independently, primarily surgery of the thyroid and parathyroid glands. You should be independent in related outpatient activities, pre- and postoperative care of patients, as well as the SVF processes for the diagnoses.

The clinic has an emergency service around the clock. Competence as a surgical backup is meritorious but not a requirement.

You are an engaged and responsible person who easily adapts to new circumstances. You have very good collaborative skills and find it easy to work with other people. You work towards goals and focus on results. Furthermore, we see that you are stable and controlled in pressured situations and have the ability to focus on the right things. You can weigh complex information and various considerations and show judgment in statements, actions, and decisions. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability.
