Job Responsibilities

The work is located at the emergency department of Hallands sjukhus Varberg.

The job responsibilities include handling all types of patients who seek care at the emergency department, including pediatric patients. Supervision of resident doctors and other non-licensed physicians is part of the job duties. It is desirable that you actively contribute to the development of the clinic.

In addition to residency positions, we offer a temporary position as a licensed physician that may transition into a residency position. The duration of the temporary position is 6 months with a possible extension. The responsibilities for you as a licensed physician include managing patients in the emergency department across all specialties and ages - in other words, you will gain a broad perspective on emergency care during your time here. Education

The positions are structured as standard residency positions with a combination of clinical work and education. A significant portion of the working time is allocated for side training at other clinics within and outside the hospital. An individual residency plan is developed in consultation with supervisors, study directors, and the medical chief. Internal training is offered about 12 days per year and external courses as necessary to meet the objectives for residency in emergency medicine. During the residency training, it is expected that the resident begins the specialist examination of the SWESEM specialist association, and the internal training aims to provide the necessary conditions for this.

Hallands sjukhus includes the emergency hospitals in Halmstad and Varberg, and we also conduct planned activities in Kungsbacka and Falkenberg. The emergency clinic at Hallands sjukhus is a separate clinic and includes the emergency departments in Halmstad and Varberg. Emergency physicians have been present in Varberg since 2003. The emergency department at Hallands sjukhus Varberg has about 40,000 visits annually. The clinic employs 19 specialists in emergency medicine and 7 residents at various stages of their specialist training. We see acute patients across all specialties and ages. Starting in 2025, the emergency clinic's physicians will take over staffing responsibility at the emergency department in Varberg.

We have a training-promoting climate and good collegiality. This is underscored by very positive reviews from resident doctors. The clinic has made progress in developing, among other things, the emergency physician services, but there is still great potential for development, and good opportunities exist to participate in shaping the future of emergency care based on individual competencies/interests and the needs of the organization.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed physician who already has some experience in emergency medicine. Previous residency training or specialist training in another relevant specialty is considered an advantage. For the position, good collaboration skills are required, and you must be a team player, as you will work in a team with physician colleagues, nurses, nursing assistants, and medical secretaries. Good knowledge of the Swedish language is an absolute requirement. We place great importance on personal suitability.
