Region Mitt operates in Södermanland, Västmanland, Uppland, Värmland, and Närke. The area of operations for Probation Mälardalen consists of probation offices in Eskilstuna, Västerås, Uppsala, and Nyköping, and we are now looking for probation inspectors to be placed in Eskilstuna, where the probation office is centrally located, covering the municipalities of Eskilstuna and Strängnäs.

We are now seeking probation inspectors for summer vacation replacements in 2025, during the period from week 23 to week 32. Since we already have a need for substitutes, there is also an opportunity to start employment relatively soon.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation inspector, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients as well as clients sentenced to probation who are under supervision. The probation service is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as an electronic tag, and community service. The work within the probation service largely consists of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing plans for implementation. The probation service also works to lead treatment programs for probation clients.

As a probation inspector, you will actively participate in influence work directed at clients, among other things through structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison. Your tasks will also include conducting personal investigations and providing opinions to the court and suggesting appropriate sanctions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages according to the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you demonstrate good judgment and integrity. As a probation inspector, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires it.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for someone who has:

• A completed upper secondary school diploma with final grades.
• Academic studies preferably within the social work program or programs with a behavioral or social science focus, or another focus that the employer deems equivalent.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• A B driver's license for manual transmission.

It is advantageous if you have:

• An academic degree (at least at the bachelor's level), preferably in social work, behavioral science, or social sciences, or another academic education in combination with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Current and well-rated work experience within corrections, social care, psychiatry, or health and social care.
• Current experience in case management.
• Relevant language skills.

OTHER

We have high demands on our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. To work with us, you need to undergo a security clearance in accordance with the Security Protection Act. For this position, a security clearance interview will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security clearance, you will be investigated as a person, your background, and your relationships from a security perspective.
