Daily activities unit 1 within the area of disability care is one of three units that conducts daily activities in Strängnäs municipality. The unit currently has 17 employees distributed across 5 activities spread throughout Strängnäs municipality. A common feature of the entire unit is that there is solid commitment and a strong focus on the users and their needs. Based on this, we work in a structured way to develop the activities and make adjustments considering the individual’s conditions. We are now going to develop a new activity and are looking for someone who wants to be part of it.

Our new activity will be located in Stallarholmen and will be specially adapted based on the needs of two unique users. Initially, the work group will consist of three colleagues, two support educators, and one support assistant, but over time you will become more and work from your own premises. Until then, daily activities will be designed based on individual needs and therefore conducted in the local area from the users' homes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a support educator, you, together with your support educator colleague, are responsible for the pedagogical work and the development of our new working methods and direction. You will work closely with the users and your colleagues to support them in their tasks regarding both knowledge of methods and working methods as well as the establishment and follow-up of implementation plans. You will ensure that our documentation is of good quality and in accordance with legislation. You will monitor the outside world, implement new knowledge, and practice and develop working methods and directions. This is to ensure that the user has a safe and stimulating environment with meaningful activities. Some care work is also included in your work as well as handling delegated health and medical tasks.

In your daily work, you need to focus on low-arousal responses, be solution-oriented, have patience, and enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors regardless of the weather and season. Taking long walks in the woods and fields will happen daily. You need to be comfortable and knowledgeable in clarifying pedagogy and using sign language support to perform the work in the best way. You need to be comfortable adapting your working methods so that you and your colleagues work similarly to reduce the risk of challenging behaviors.

Collaborating with the individual, representatives, relatives, residential staff, and other people in the person's network is something you see as a given to succeed in your upcoming assignment. The role also includes close cooperation with the unit manager and other support educators within the area of daily activities and employment. As a support educator, you are also part of a network with all support educators within the entire area of operations (daily activities and housing) where the network's goal is to strengthen pedagogical competence and further develop evidence-based methods for the area. The assignment includes some administrative time.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• a YH 200 credit support educator, alternatively 60 university credits with a focus on disabilities, social work, pedagogy, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.
• at least one year of experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities and autism.
• experience working with individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors.
• experience working with clarifying pedagogy and AAC.
• good computer skills.
• good knowledge of applicable legislation regarding documentation according to LSS and the Social Services Act.
• good ability to communicate well in both spoken and written Swedish.
• a B driver's license and good driving experience.

It is strongly meritorious if you have previous experience in similar work.

As a person, you are calm, secure in yourself, and attentive. You easily understand and empathize with other people's feelings and behaviors. You are good at conveying security, have a low-arousal response, and can handle complex expressions. You have no problem working independently, but you also see yourself as a team player; collaboration is a prerequisite for success. You easily encourage good performance and communicate well with colleagues and users. You are also flexible and see solutions rather than obstacles and problems. You are pedagogical and have an easy time motivating others. Working towards goals is a given for you, and you have the ability to keep your eyes on the goal even if the path there is sometimes winding. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
