Stoma Therapist/Nurse to Surgery

The surgical area is cross-county with clinics and departments in Hudiksvall and Gävle. We conduct both emergency and planned activities within our specialties in urology, vascular, plastic, upper and lower gastrointestinal, breast, and endocrine surgery. As one of our stoma therapists is moving on to another job, we are looking for a stoma therapist or a nurse with an interest in stoma and wound care. The position is a rotation position where the working hours are divided 50 percent as a stoma therapist in the surgical clinic and 50 percent in surgical ward 111A. RESPONSIBILITIES

As a stoma therapist in the surgical clinic, you will work with patients who have undergone surgery and received a stoma. You will have an independent role with varying tasks such as preoperative information to the patient, follow-up after surgery, and telephone advice. You will also follow our stoma patients during their hospital stay. Working hours are scheduled during the day from Monday to Friday.

As a stoma therapist in the surgical clinic, you will work with:

• preoperative information
• follow-up after surgery
• fitting stoma bags
• own clinic
• telephone advice.

As a nurse in surgical ward 111A, you will be responsible together with a nursing assistant for six patients. Support functions such as admission clinic, care planning nurse, surgical specialist nurse, and receptionist are available during office hours. We work with planned care but also receive patients from the emergency department. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekend shifts.

As a nurse in the surgical ward, you will work with:

• preparation and administration of medications, infusion/pain therapy
• patients who have undergone advanced surgery with complex care needs
• patients with specific care needs such as nutritional tubes, drains, stomas, treatment of advanced wounds.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be suitable for the position, we are looking for someone who has good collaboration skills, is flexible, and can plan and structure their work well. We prefer that you are driven and ambitious.

In the role of nurse/stoma therapist, you should:

• be a licensed nurse.

For this position, it is advantageous if you are a trained stoma therapist or have knowledge in stoma care as well as experience in surgical care.
