Job Advertisement: Surveying Engineer
At the Cartography, Measurement, and Staff Unit, we provide support for the entire office. We are 10 employees – two work with cartographic and measurement assignments, one is a land surveyor, and the others manage legal matters, administration, business development, and quality coordination.
Due to retirement, we are now looking for an experienced colleague who wants to shape processes, standards, and tools for measurement, cartography production, and geodata quality – in close collaboration with both the administration and our GIS unit. With us, you will have significant authority, short decision-making paths, and the opportunity to combine strategic development work with hands-on improvements that make a concrete difference.
The Cartography, Measurement, and Staff Unit belongs to the Environmental and Urban Planning Office, which is one of our six administrations in Lidingö Municipality. Here, about 50 dedicated employees work with broad expertise in areas such as urban planning, building permits, cartography, environmental issues, health protection, food control, and housing adaptation. RESPONSIBILITIES
As a surveying engineer, you will work broadly and variably, combining technology, precision, and societal benefit. You will have the opportunity to influence work methods, develop methods, and contribute to future-proofing our measurement operations. You will be an important part of the administration's work and responsible for delivering cartographic and measurement assignments to both Lidingö residents and internal clients.
The tasks are varied and include, among others:
- Conducting measurement assignments and quality assurance of building placements, position controls, new construction maps, detailed measurements, and investigation of property boundaries
- Maintaining the municipality's primary map, both through fieldwork and photogrammetric measurement
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of databases for measurement data and associated work tools
- Contributing to the development of processes and work methods, including the management of cartographic systems (Topocad, ESPA). We currently work with Topocad, ESPA, AutoCAD, QGIS, and FME and are facing an exciting procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant education in measurement technology, such as YH education or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience as a surveying engineer or in a similar role
- Practical experience in field measurement with total stations and GNSS
- Good knowledge of building permit-related measurement assignments and preferably also project measurement
- Experience working with GIS tools and mapping programs
- Driver's license (B)
It is advantageous if you also have:
- Understanding of database management and integration between measurement data and cartographic systems
- Experience with our current tools (Topocad, ESPA, AutoCAD, QGIS, and FME)
- Experience from both municipal and private measurements

The city applies individual salary setting. Interviews are conducted on an ongoing basis. Start date according to agreement.
