About the workplace

The Street and Park Operations Unit, which is part of the Property and Street/Park Department in the Community Planning Administration, is responsible for the operation of street and park land within Uddevalla municipality.

The Street and Park Operations Unit has about 42 employees.

We work to create an inspiring and sustainable work environment with varied and diverse tasks, to create job satisfaction for everyone. We work with organizational development to improve our structures and working methods.

Our area of responsibility includes the operation, maintenance, and reporting of issues regarding the municipality's streets and roads, including winter and summer road maintenance. We also manage the design, operation, and reporting of issues regarding the municipality's parks and green areas within planned areas.

Job responsibilities

In this position, you will, together with your team, be responsible for planting, care, and maintenance of seasonal plants in flowerbeds and pots, perennials, shrubs, and trees in our green spaces, pruning work, watering, fertilizing plants, cleaning, maintaining playgrounds, weed control, as well as grass trimming and mowing, etc. Establishment of outdoor environments such as parks, other green spaces, and playgrounds.

The unit you will work in is called Street/Park Operations, and even though you will belong to the park group, we have a close collaboration with the street team and help each other when needed. It is a varied role that during certain periods can be more intense and focused on specific tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience in park/gardening work.
• Good knowledge and experience of plant identification, pruning work, and the various maintenance tasks that occur throughout the year in park environments and green areas.
• Good physical condition.
• Ability to communicate in Swedish both orally and in writing, as well as basic knowledge of English.
• Basic computer skills.
• Driver's license B and good driving experience.

It is advantageous if you have extensive experience working with plants and education in plant and tree pruning.

We are looking for someone who enjoys practical outdoor work and has a strong interest in plants, nature, and parks. You have education in gardening and are happy to share your plant knowledge with others. In this role, service and interaction are important. You have a good sense of service, show responsibility and pride in your work, and find it easy to collaborate and contribute to a good work environment.

The work involves creating and maintaining attractive outdoor environments for residents and visitors. You are one of the municipality's faces outward and perform your work in the city's various outdoor environments. You enjoy working both in a team and independently, take your own initiatives, and work in a structured and efficient manner. You are flexible, can prioritize your tasks, and are quality-conscious in your work.
