The County Administrative Board: A Driving Force for a Sustainable Society
We work together with authorities, municipalities, businesses, and other stakeholders focusing on Västra Götaland County and our 1.7 million inhabitants. The County Administrative Board has a broad operation and a very important role in several areas of society. This includes the highly relevant challenges of regional growth, implementing the green transition, developing civil defense, and nurturing democracy.
The County Administrative Board is a regional government agency with about 1,000 friendly and competent employees. We operate in several locations in Västra Götaland but also throughout Sweden as we are responsible for the IT operations for all county administrative boards.
The Rural Development Department works for a vibrant countryside with good food production and sound food management. We focus on environmental goals and strive to utilize and develop rural businesses from a social, ecological, and economic perspective in connection with the EU's common rural policy. We do this by processing and deciding on grants and compensations. We disseminate knowledge through various educational activities and conduct inspections and controls in the field.
In the Rural Development Department, we work in a process-oriented manner and aim for a flexible working method where we are prepared to use our shared resources in the areas where they are most needed.
The Agricultural Support Unit annually handles applications for agricultural support from over 10,000 agricultural businesses in the county. As an employee in the unit, you contribute to ensuring that the county's agriculture receives financial support to operate economically and environmentally sustainably. You ensure that the supports are paid out to those who comply with the regulations and disseminate knowledge about them to enable agricultural businesses to do the right thing from the start.
