About the Position
As a tactical buyer, you will have significant responsibility for your supplier base and will handle both operational and more strategic tasks. You will have many contacts internally and with our suppliers worldwide. This means that you will work according to established routines, but also manage urgent issues and solve problems. Together with your colleagues, you will ensure good purchasing quality based on the needs of the business and work on continuous improvements of our supply chain.
Your Responsibilities:
- Management of purchase orders and invoices.
- Optimize material availability based on the needs of the business.
- Set safety stock, safety times, and lot sizing. Update the material master in SAP.
- Tactically balance and plan material and component procurement within the purchasing area.
- Drive and lead supplier meetings.
- Follow up and develop suppliers.
- Participate in the qualification and evaluation of suppliers through various processes, such as PPQ.
- Prepare and conduct negotiations with suppliers.
- Participate in the development and implementation of purchasing strategies based on cost-effectiveness, delivery precision, and the right quality.
A Day in Your Life
You start your day by checking the delivery status from your suppliers and preparing for the morning pulse meetings in production, where you may receive points that need to be resolved for daily production. A supplier has delivery issues, and you call for a cross-functional meeting to determine what should be done to achieve a smoother production, both with the supplier and internally. The team then gathers for a joint break. You joke with a colleague who forgot to bring their sandwich and once again buys something from the vending machine. Later, you participate in a project meeting where you get a clearer understanding of the product requirements so that you can start the procurement of prototype hardware. You discuss with the strategist who is responsible for commodities to come up with proposals on who should receive the inquiry and lay out the plan for how the procurement should proceed.
About Your Team
You are 9 people in the team, responsible for purchasing and planning production materials in Trollhättan. There are mixed ages and experiences, and a very good collaborative climate and atmosphere in the group. The buyers also collaborate closely with the strategic buyers organized at the headquarters in Finspång.

Siemens Energy develops and manufactures world-leading gas turbines for a global market. The company also delivers complete turbine-based power plants for long-term sustainable and cost-effective production of electricity, steam, and heat. The turbines are also sold as power sources for compressors and pumps, primarily within the oil and gas industry. With over 2600 employees, most in Finspång and about 120 in Trollhättan, and an annual turnover of about billions of kronor, the company is a significant player in energy technology.
In Trollhättan, combustion chambers for gas turbines are manufactured, specializing in the production of parts made of stainless steel, alloys, and heat-resistant materials.
Your Profile
To succeed in this role, we believe that:
- You have several years of experience in purchasing, preferably within a larger organization and with international suppliers.
- You have a university degree in engineering and/or economics.
- You have good collaboration skills and can effectively build strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
- As a person, you are structured and analytical with strong problem-solving skills and see working with continuous improvements as a given.
- You express yourself well in both spoken and written English and Swedish and have no problem having tough discussions with suppliers.
- You work effortlessly in common Office tools and enjoy performing analyses in, for example, Excel. Good knowledge of SAP is a plus.
