In Ludvika, children and youth are important! We demonstrate this by making children and youth the center of the municipal organization. Most resources directed towards children and youth have been gathered under one committee. This includes preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, and also social services. A common feature of all activities is a conscious quality effort to constantly develop and improve work with children and youth.

We are now looking for a social worker specializing in foster care.

The Workplace

The Social Services and Education Administration is part of Ludvika Municipality. We are about 100 employees organized into five units: Investigation Unit, Support and Welfare Unit, Foster Care and Family Law Unit, Open Care Unit, and Ami.

The Foster Care and Family Law Unit consists of three functional groups: 3 foster care social workers, 6 child social workers, and 4 family law social workers, led by a unit manager along with two senior social workers.

Your Qualifications

Requirements include a degree in social work, knowledge of current legislation, and a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing, as well as good collaboration and initiative skills.

Experience in foster care work, authority exercise within IFO regarding children and youth, knowledge and experience of BBIC, systemic approach, and domestic violence are meritorious.

The employer will also place great emphasis on personal suitability for the role.

A valid driver's license (B) is required for the position.

About the Position

In the work focused on foster care, you will recruit, investigate, match, and continuously support and guide foster homes, as well as investigate contact persons and contact families. A significant part of the work involves supporting and guiding foster homes in their tasks. The child's social worker and the foster care social worker work in teams around the placed children. The work is independent but requires close collaboration with both colleagues and management within the unit, as well as with other internal and external partners. Ongoing documentation is part of the job, and the work involves both short and long trips.

Since 2024, Ludvika is one of 11 municipalities in Dalarna collaborating through Dalarna's Foster Care Resource (DFR), which helps us recruit foster homes to a shared foster home bank.
