Make a Difference. Every Day.

We are looking for you who want to join us in contributing to a good workplace where we provide the best possible care to acute surgical patients based on a person-centered approach.

The surgical and gastroenterology area (VO) at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) includes surgical and gastroenterological activities in Lund and Malmö, as well as surgical activities in Landskrona. We provide acute, specialized, and highly specialized care with both regional and national assignments. Approximately 790 employees work in the area.

Surgery departments 1 and 2 are large units that provide high-quality care for acute surgical patients, and both preoperative and postoperative care is conducted here. In September, we moved into NSM (the new hospital in Malmö) and now work in completely new facilities. The unit has 49 beds distributed between surgery departments 1 and 2, and all staff rotate between both departments. The department's interdisciplinary team includes nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, nursing leaders, specialist nurses, advanced specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and medical secretaries. There are also pharmacists, social workers, and dietitians attached to the department. Daily work is supported closely by unit managers. We offer a family-like workplace where we care for each other, have high ceilings, and a lot of laughter. The climate in the department is characterized by openness and tolerance, where we help each other across boundaries.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse in the department, you will follow the nursing process from admission to discharge, meaning making assessments, examinations, and evaluating conditions to then follow up and plan for discharge. Responsibilities also include preoperative preparations, providing postoperative care, managing medical technology equipment, and other common tasks performed by a nurse in an acute surgical department. In addition to direct work with patients, all staff in the department are involved in building, developing, and improving care in the unit.

We offer a personalized introduction program that spans your first year with us, with regular follow-ups from both the manager and nursing leader to ensure that you, as a new nurse, feel secure in your professional practice. The introduction program also includes an educational wheel with lectures on surgical care every other week and placements in other units such as our outpatient clinic, emergency department, ICU, surgery, and endoscopy to gain a comprehensive picture and deeper understanding of what our surgical patients go through during their hospital stay. In addition to the educational wheel, internal lectures within the area are also offered, as well as case studies and other lectures in the department. We also provide training for nurses in placing midlines. Beyond our own introduction program, we encourage you as a newly graduated nurse to apply for the clinical foundation year.

In the department, we have a wish schedule that is set via MultiAccess, giving you great opportunities to influence your own schedule. You will work 5 weekends over 13 weeks.

The position involves night shifts, but working hours can be scheduled during the day or night, as well as on weekdays and holidays. If you work 100% nights, you will work 32 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who wants to work with acute patients in surgery. You are engaged in your profession as a nurse and want to actively participate in the department's working methods and development moving forward. You share your experience and expertise regardless of whether you are new in your role as a nurse or have more extensive experience. Everyone in the unit is important!

For the position, you must be a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale are required.

In this recruitment, we work with ongoing selection. Welcome with your application!
