We are now looking for a nurse/ophthalmic nurse for a shared position between the Eye Clinic in Karlskoga and the Eye Clinic at Örebro University Hospital (USÖ). The Eye Department is one of Sweden's five largest eye departments with approximately 140 employees distributed across the county's three hospitals. Here you will have the opportunity to combine advanced specialist care with breadth and independence, providing both variation and good opportunities for professional development.

Eye Clinic Karlskoga: The Eye Clinic in Karlskoga is run by nurses, MVA, and assistants. Rounds are conducted digitally together with doctors and nurses stationed at USÖ. The largest patient groups are glaucoma and diabetes patients. Here you work independently in a smaller outpatient setting where you take significant personal responsibility and utilize your entire skill set.

Eye Clinic USÖ: At the Eye Clinic USÖ, a clear counterbalance to the independent work in Karlskoga is offered. Here, highly specialized ophthalmic care is provided for patients with complex and often chronic eye diseases. The county's acute ophthalmic care is also located here. The facility is situated in modern premises in the highly specialized H-building. As a nurse, you are an important part of the team-based work and actively participate in outpatient work, examinations, and treatments.

The Eye Department is one of Sweden's five largest eye departments. Our university hospital consists of two units. A medical unit with a large outpatient operation and a surgical unit. The outpatient care has a team-based operation within general ophthalmology, glaucoma, medical retina, pediatric and strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and uveitis. The surgical unit has a large vitreoretinal surgery section as well as an anterior segment surgery section with a cornea center. In total, we are over 130 employees in the department.

We strive to be at the forefront with high medical quality in several areas, including medical retina. Advanced equipment is available, including navigated retinal lasers and wide-field imaging. There is a long tradition of participating in international clinical drug trials and good opportunities for research. The university hospital has a close collaboration with Örebro University, where medical education is also provided. The Eye Department has an active teaching and training program. There is research activity and good opportunities for employees interested in R&D.

Nurse for Eye Clinic Karlskoga/USÖ

The work at the eye clinic consists of various independent measurements and examinations. Vision checks, visual field tests, pressure measurements, and various photography for both children and adults are common tasks. You will also be able to be part of our injection service, where patients receive medication injections in the eye. Telephone counseling is a natural part of the work. The tasks are adapted to your experience and educational background.
