Are you ready for a new challenge in your work as an operating room nurse? A challenge that means you will work in a highly specialized surgical department focusing on thoracic and vascular surgery. We are now looking for an operating room nurse who finds this interesting and wants to develop within their profession.

Our surgical department is part of the Vascular and Thoracic Operations area and has about 40 employees consisting of operating room nurses, anesthetic nurses, perfusionists, and nursing assistants. Thoracic surgery includes open heart surgery, lung surgery, and arrhythmia surgery. Vascular surgery includes both open and endovascular procedures. This means that the work varies from advanced perioperative care with technology-intensive equipment to shorter procedures performed under local anesthesia. Elective surgery is conducted on weekdays, but there is a continuous inflow of emergency patients needing our help around the clock. The tradition of research is strong. Five specialist nurses have defended their doctoral theses.

The Vascular - Thoracic Operations area encompasses three specialties: thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and thoracic anesthesia and intensive care. We provide highly specialized care in the form of heart and lung surgery, advanced vascular surgery with an endovascular focus, arrhythmia surgery in various forms, and advanced intensive care including ECMO. Approximately 1,500 surgical procedures are performed annually within the area. Our most important overarching goals are high quality and good accessibility with the patient in focus. Research and development have high priority and are conducted in several areas. The operations are characterized by a forward-thinking attitude, teamwork, and good collaboration. The area consists of the surgical department, care department with intermediate care beds, intensive care unit, and administrative unit. We are about 200 employees distributed among vascular surgeons, thoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, nurses (general, surgical, anesthetic, and intensive care), nursing assistants, and medical care administrators. The university hospital and the size of the operations area allow for short decision-making paths and a very well-functioning collaboration around the patient. Medical education is constantly present and is an important part of our mission.

Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is one of the county's three emergency hospitals where we provide advanced healthcare, research, and education. In both 2020 and 2019, USÖ received the prestigious award for Best University Hospital from the newspaper Dagens Medicin. USÖ won the most significant category for medical quality, had the best results in the categories of accessibility, economy, and the category of avoiding pressure ulcers and overcrowding. USÖ also tops the results in the areas of heart, kidney failure, and vascular surgery. USÖ has about 3,500 employees. We who work here are very proud of our hospital and base our work on collaboration, development, and professionalism.
