Key player between IT and operational activities
As a Project Manager at the Swedish Maritime Administration, you will be a key player in the collaboration between IT and the operational activities. You will belong to the Business Area Maritime Traffic Service, part of the Business Department, and report to the head of the business area.
“My name is Sandra Stefanovic, and I will be your manager. I believe in building trust, supporting each other, and driving the work forward together. As part of our business area, you will have the opportunity to shape future solutions and contribute to developing our working methods and systems. There is room for ideas, engagement, and drive here – and we look forward to taking the next step together with you.”
In the Business Department, we work with a mission that is both critical to society and meaningful. We work development-oriented with the customer and industry in focus and take our starting point in the agency's instructions as well as overarching goals and strategies in the Swedish Maritime Administration's three-year plan. We work for an accessible logistics system with safe, efficient, and sustainable shipping at its core, through a range of services that we deliver to maritime traffic in and around Sweden.
The Business Department is responsible for a large part of the Swedish Maritime Administration's core activities, where pilotage is one of the most extensive services in terms of the number of involved employees. We are driven by curiosity and engagement and are constantly in development and change to meet future needs. The agency is in a development process that includes both business development and a shift in organizational culture.
Job Responsibilities
In the role of Project Manager for pilotage, you will be responsible for planning, prioritizing, and driving the project that includes the overall IT support for the activities that provide pilotage along the entire coast. This includes both the development of new functions and the management of existing ones in close collaboration with operations, IT, and external suppliers. The work is conducted with elements of both PM3 and agile working methods, and you as a project manager need to be comfortable with a range of different tools including project work.
You have overall responsibility for ensuring delivery and development of the project's products and report to the project owner and steering group while the entire organization looks forward to the project's development. You are overall responsible for the project at a tactical level together with the IT Project Manager. Together, you and with the support of process leaders, project specialists, and employees from relevant operations will develop the project's planning and ensure its execution.
With us, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and engaged environment where your work directly contributes to safer shipping and a mission of societal importance.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with an academic education relevant to the tasks. You have several years of experience in business development and IT project management. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing. Experience in procurement and purchasing within public operations is an advantage. Experience with several models for IT governance or IT project management to steer IT development is also advantageous. Experience in project management using PPS or other project management models is also a plus.
We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities, and to fit the role of project manager, you need to be attentive, open, and have a flexible attitude towards new situations. You are driven, have good analytical skills, are good at communication, and work structured and independently. You have a strong interest and commitment to the interaction between operations and IT and see difficulties more as a challenge than as a problem.
