Children and Youth Librarian at Aneby Library

Job Description

In addition to regular library work, the focus of the position is to strengthen the library's activities aimed at young people (10-16 years) during their leisure time. Together with the existing children's librarian, you will plan, implement, and evaluate activities and be responsible for developing the operations as well as presenting the library's media collection to the target group of young people. Aneby Library has a close collaboration with the youth center in Aneby, and the position includes working there one evening a week.

In addition, the tasks consist of:

• staffing the library, guiding and inspiring library visitors
• promoting reading, both at the library and outreach at other locations around the municipality
• conducting library tours and presenting to a group
• collaborating with schools, youth centers, and other stakeholders
• participating in and driving library development together with colleagues
• actively participating in other library tasks

We are looking for a qualified children and youth librarian who is confident in their role and well-grounded in the mission. You need to be a good listener and at the same time creative, seeing opportunities based on the needs and expectations of young people. Furthermore, we see that you:

It is an advantage if you have experience in library work with young people (10-16 years).

Aneby Library is located in the town center and is seen by many as a living room, open every day thanks to Meröppet. We want visitors to always feel welcome and find what they expect from our library. The activities are conducted at the library but also around the municipality, in collaboration with many different actors. Four people work here, one of whom will be on leave for a year.

Additional Information

The position is a one-year temporary position with a possible extension. The position is 80%, divided into 65% work at the library and 15% at the youth center.
