Medborgarskolan is a study association with a humanistic value base that exists throughout the country. Our courses and cultural activities engage nearly a million participants each year. Our activities are open to everyone. We combine enjoyable learning forms with high demands for quality and competence.

Medborgarskolan Region East is a non-profit association that, in addition to traditional folk education, also conducts corporate training, preschool, and daily activities for people with disabilities. Region East includes Blekinge, Småland, and Östergötland.

Do you want to work with folk education through creativity? Do you have a pedagogical approach and a strong belief in everyone’s right to creative expression? Then we are looking for you to lead our studio activities in visual arts.

About the assignment

As a circle leader/studio leader with us, you will lead study circles and courses in visual arts for adults, children, and people with disabilities. The activities are conducted in a studio environment and are based on the participants' needs, interests, and conditions – in accordance with the values of folk education. The courses take place in the evenings and/or weekends, making it possible for more people to participate.

The content may include:

• Painting (acrylic, watercolor, oil)
• Drawing (pencil, charcoal, ink)
• Sketching, visual storytelling
• Mixed media and experimental techniques
• Visual arts – basic and advanced
• Customized creative processes for different target groups

We are looking for someone who

• Has experience in their own artistic work and/or art pedagogy
• Is confident in leading groups of different ages and abilities
• Shares the values of folk education regarding participation, equality, and lifelong learning
• Has an inclusive, attentive, and respectful approach
• Can adapt the structure and pace according to the participants' needs

Experience working within study associations, cultural schools, LSS activities, or other educational activities is an advantage, but personal suitability is crucial.
