The Role of the Dancer

As a dancer in Dans Spira Extended (DSE), you will work both at Kulturhuset Spira and throughout Jönköping County. You will participate in the repertoire of Kulturhuset Spira and Unga Spira, as well as meet established choreographers and directors. In the role of a dancer with us, you will engage with audiences in various types of performance spaces such as concert halls, theaters, classrooms, gymnasiums, and public environments.

The work involves meetings with many target groups, primarily children and youth. The assignment also includes leading artistic workshops and working with varying choreographic practices. You will have the opportunity to develop your own artistry and build the experience needed for a continued career as a dancer.

Daily training is provided during rehearsal periods. During tours, training is led by ensemble leaders/choreographer assistants. Work primarily occurs during the day, but weekend and evening work may occur. We offer a fixed-term full-time position from November 16, 2026, to June 19, 2027.

Kulturhuset Spira presents a varied program of music, theater, musicals, and dance for children, youth, and adults in Jönköping County every year. Our activities include Jönköping Sinfonietta and a permanent acting ensemble, along with workshops for decor, masks, costumes, props, and attributes.

Approximately 700 events are held annually in the form of self-produced performances, guest performances, collaborations with the county's independent cultural practitioners, as well as rentals and conferences. Our mission is regional, and part of the operations takes place on tour in the county. About 30 percent of the activities are specifically aimed at children and youth through Unga Spira. Kulturhuset Spira is part of Region Jönköping County and is one of the units within Regional Development. The operations generate approximately 132 million SEK annually and have about 100 employees.

Your Profile

To be considered for the position, you must have completed a three-year professional dance education with graduation in spring 2025 or spring 2026. You have a strong artistic grounding in modern and contemporary dance and good knowledge of these expressions. You possess a B driver's license, as work on tour is part of the job.

Our Recruitment Process

The application deadline is April 11, and selection may occur continuously. By April 24, we will invite candidates who are relevant for the position to an audition via email. The audition will take place on May 17 at Kulturhuset Spira in Jönköping, and shorter interviews will also be conducted during the audition.
