Curator for the County Museum's Collection

Are you a person with extensive knowledge of cultural history and cultural historical objects? Do you enjoy structure, service, and varied tasks? Then the position of curator for the county museum's collection might be for you!

The Jönköping County Museum currently manages a cultural historical collection that focuses on the pre-industrial society and the beginning of industrialization, where the bourgeoisie at the turn of the century is well represented in objects, art, and textiles.

The collections also include a large archaeological material from investigations in the county.

The position of curator for the collection includes both administrative, theoretical, and practical tasks. You will work with collection, loans, ongoing registry maintenance, cataloging, deaccessioning, and publishing on various platforms. The work also involves practical handling of the collection such as planning logistics, moving/organizing, and preparations for transport and exhibitions. Additionally, it includes advising, knowledge building, developing routines and guidelines, and collaborating with civil society and other cultural institutions. You will participate in exhibition projects and prepare materials for exhibitions, the web, and social media, and may also conduct tours and program activities as needed.

The position involves both independent work and close collaboration with other functions. You will be part of the Documentation and Collections unit, where you will work alongside knowledgeable colleagues to jointly manage and develop the county museum's collections.
