Job Responsibilities

Are you a confident and communicative person who wants to work in an organization where you can make a real difference for people in vulnerable life situations? To meet an increased need and further develop our work, we are expanding the crisis centers for men and women with a targeted mission towards violence-affected LGBTQI individuals.

The position is part of the counseling centers' operations, with a particular focus on reaching and providing support to violence-affected LGBTQI individuals.

The position belongs to Kriscentrum VINR, which has 26 employees distributed across two counseling centers, Kriscentrum's protected accommodation, and social workers in collaboration with the police BINR.

The counseling centers operate city-wide and offer conversations and psychosocial support to individuals who have been subjected to threats and violence, or who themselves threaten or commit violence against their partner or ex-partner. We also provide support to relatives. The work is conducted through individual conversations and, when appropriate, also in groups.

In the role of curator, you will work individually tailored and trauma-focused with conversations and psychosocial support, both individually and in groups. Part of the assignment involves working outreach and accessible by allocating parts of your working hours to the Regnbågshuset premises. Regnbågshuset is a safe meeting place for the LGBTQI community, where people can come without the risk of discrimination or questioning, and serves as an important arena to lower the barriers for violence-affected individuals to seek support.

The psychosocial support may also involve collaboration with other parts of social services, psychiatry, and the justice system. You will also contribute to knowledge dissemination and method development within the organization, based on current research and proven experience, as well as a norm-aware and inclusive approach.

The position is mainly scheduled for daytime, but evening work may occur in connection with group activities. The counseling centers are located in central Gothenburg, and we offer regular external supervision.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or other education that the employer can assess as equivalent. We also see it as a requirement that you have knowledge of and experience working with violence in close relationships, that you have a basic psychotherapy education (level 1), experience in providing counseling support, and experience in meeting individuals in crisis.

You also need to have trauma competence and be able to work stabilizing. You have experience and understand the importance of collaborating with other authorities in your work.

We see it as a requirement that you have a norm-aware and inclusive approach, as well as experience working in contexts where LGBTQI individuals' situations, living conditions, and access to support have been a relevant part of the assignment.

It is advantageous if you have worked both with individuals who are victims and those who perpetrate violence in close relationships. It is also advantageous if you have language skills that are useful in contact with clients, such as Persian or Arabic, to better reflect the Gothenburg community in the workgroup.

In our counseling centers, the target group is in focus, and it is important that you have a good approach. You show respect for those you meet in your professional role and base your work on everyone's equal value. You communicate and convey information clearly, ensuring that your message gets across. You adapt your communication to the recipient, target group, and situation.

As a person, you are independent. You have the courage and ability to make your own decisions within the framework of your assignment without relying on others. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive the work forward. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Does this sound like you? Then you are warmly welcome to apply!
