School Psychologist for Sollentuna

Sollentuna Municipality currently has seven school psychologists distributed across our municipal schools. The psychologists are centrally employed and organized under the education office's department for support and development. The psychologists are part of each school's student health team and collaborate with various professional groups to promote children's and students' learning, development, and health, with a special focus on children and students in need of special support. The work in student health has a health-promoting and preventive focus.

We are now looking for a school psychologist for a parental leave position in Sollentuna.

Job Responsibilities

As a school psychologist, you collaborate with the school's student health team in the preventive and health-promoting work to remove barriers to students' learning. You contribute the psychological perspective in collaboration with other professional categories to help students improve their conditions for learning and knowledge development in school.

In addition to health promotion, you work based on three main assignments: consultation, assessment, and investigation. Consultation is provided both at the student health team's meetings and to the school's various professional categories based on needs. Psychological assessments in schools focus on the student's cognitive conditions to help the school and parents better understand the student's specific needs and adapt teaching accordingly. They are also conducted to ensure that the student is given the opportunity for the right school form. Other assessments of students' needs in school are made based on observations and conversations with teachers, guardians, and students.

Inclusion and accessible schools are prioritized development areas within the municipality where the school psychologist plays an important role.

Collaboration with clinics for children and youth within, for example, the healthcare system is included in the job responsibilities.

Qualifications

You are a licensed psychologist with experience working with children and youth. Experience as a school psychologist is an advantage but not a requirement.

Your drive is to work for the students' best interests based on their development and learning. You naturally have a good ability to create trusting relationships with students, guardians, and other staff. The position requires a good ability and interest in collaborating with other professional categories. The work places high demands on the ability to analyze complex situations at both the individual level and group and organizational level. You work independently in your professional role with access to good support from other school psychologists and regular supervision.
