We are now looking for a strategic purchaser for a qualified consulting assignment with our client in the defense industry. The assignment offers a unique opportunity to contribute to strengthening Sweden's and our client countries' defense capabilities – in an operation where advanced technology, business acumen, and societal benefit meet.

As a consultant in this role, you will be a key player in one of Sweden's most technology-intensive industrial projects. You will operate in an international and security-critical environment where long-term business relationships, structured working methods, and professional purchasing work are crucial for success.

In the role of Strategic Purchaser, you will be responsible for driving and developing commercial arrangements with suppliers – from strategy and agreements to follow-up and supplier development. You will work closely with functions within production, development, marketing, and after-sales to ensure that purchasing solutions support both business goals and technical requirements.

You will become a central part of supplier management for complex products and systems where quality, delivery reliability, and cost control are business-critical factors.

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies within assigned categories and supplier areas
• Negotiate commercial terms and establish and manage supplier agreements
• Lead and coordinate supplier teams in collaboration with technology, production, and projects
• Establish and further develop long-term relationships with strategic suppliers
• Monitor and analyze supplier performance regarding cost, quality, delivery precision, and capacity
• Drive improvement initiatives and development projects within the purchasing area

We are looking for someone with solid experience working strategically in roles such as strategic purchaser, procurement officer, or project manager. You have a strong commercial understanding and thrive in environments where technology, business, and long-term planning meet.

Formal Requirements

• Academic degree in economics, engineering, or another relevant discipline
• 3–7 years of experience in strategic purchasing, procurement, or business-related project management
• Documented negotiation experience in complex and preferably international business environments
• Excellent communication skills in Swedish and English

• Experience from defense, aerospace, or manufacturing industries
• Good technical understanding and interest in products and systems
• Experience in total cost analyses and lifecycle perspectives
• Familiarity with working in larger organizations with cross-functional interfaces
