We are looking for a construction manager for the operation and maintenance of movable bridges over the Göta River within Region West for the Swedish Transport Administration.

The assignment is a consultancy position based in Gothenburg or Trollhättan.

The position encompasses 60–80%.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which requires a high degree of flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

As a construction manager for operation and maintenance of movable bridges over the Göta River within Region West, you will be responsible for following up and coordinating repair and maintenance activities on both road and railway bridges. The role includes minor operational and maintenance tasks as well as larger maintenance that is procured separately. You will also be responsible for ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with contracts, drawings, client requirements, and applicable regulations, and participate in design, follow-up, and reporting.

Responsibilities

Follow up and control projects, provide technical support during investigations, design, and actions on movable bridges within mechanics, hydraulics, painting, steel, concrete, and electrical work, for both road and railway bridges.

Be responsible for operation and maintenance (e.g., concrete repairs, lubrication, railing repairs, gate installation, replacement of fixtures) as well as larger maintenance procured separately (e.g., replacement of edge beams, bridge railings, hydraulics, waterproofing, surfacing, repainting).

Participate in inspections and assessments and provide feedback on contractors'/designers' drawings and documents.

Check drawings and documents and compare them with reality on site.

Ensure that contracts are executed according to contracts, drawings, documents, and authority/client requirements.

Monitor timelines, costs, payment plans, and forecast final costs.

Keep a diary, document changes/additional work, and coordinate with the project manager.

Participate in design, construction, economic, and technical meetings, take minutes, evaluate technical solutions, and contribute to decisions.

Participate in quality, environmental, and safety work and follow up on the contractor's self-control.

Assist in contact and coordination with authorities, designers, property owners, landowners, internal projects, and adjacent contracts.

Ensure that necessary permits are in place and secure construction methods and detailed construction plans.

Requires teamwork skills, the ability to drive processes and contracts, and good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Requirements (Mandatory)

Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Experience working in project groups where coordination has been important.

Driving license B.

At least 5 years of work experience (as a construction manager or in a supervisory role such as production manager, site manager, project manager, or equivalent in construction/infrastructure projects) within the relevant technical area (construction works) and from projects with >5 MSEK in total turnover. Work experience should not be older than 10 years.

Familiarity with laws and regulations as well as standards and guidelines within the relevant area.

You must have completed BASÄSKYDD.

Certification according to concrete course class 1.

Certification according to FROSIO level II.

Certification according to TR-STEEL N+K.

Requirement of at least 2 years of work experience (as a construction manager, project manager, or in a supervisory role) from comparable assignments regarding movable bridges that have included mechanics, hydraulics, and construction of mechanics, steel, and electrical work. Work experience should not be older than 6 years.

Desirable

Have completed training or will undergo training after contract start to function as the Client's construction site safety coordinator, BAS-P and BAS-U.

Have completed training or will undergo training after contract start according to TDOK 2018:0371 APV, at least according to the requirements in step 3.0.
