The Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NIVA) in Lund provides highly specialized intensive care and is part of the area of operations (VO) for neurosurgery and pain rehabilitation. We have a regional assignment which means we serve the entire Southern healthcare region with highly specialized neuro intensive care. NIVA has six intensive care beds where we primarily care for patients with severe head and/or spinal injuries. We are a high-tech intensive care unit characterized by a desire to achieve medical results of the highest quality.
NIVA also has an intermediate care unit (IMA) with five beds where we care for acute patients with intermediate care needs. The unit also functions as a step-down unit for our patients who no longer require intensive care. The care needs at IMA can vary from advanced care to lighter monitoring. We also have a postoperative unit with four beds where we provide postoperative care for the unit's newly operated patients. The postoperative unit also cares for newly operated children.
The neurosurgical department in Lund is one of six facilities in Sweden that perform neurosurgery. We have round-the-clock operations in our operating department and we also have a care department, day care services, and a clinic. Approximately 300 people work within the organization, of which 100 are at NIVA.

If you are a newly graduated ICU nurse, we offer you a longer introduction, tailored to support you in your new professional role. Furthermore, you will have two mentors who will guide you through your initial period. At NIVA, we actively work with knowledge-seeking and regularly offer lectures and training. We view knowledge development positively and allocate resources for responsibilities, projects, and studies at universities and colleges.
We have a popular point salary system where you can request your work schedule. We work three shifts with a weekly working time of 36.33 hours. If you wish to allocate most of your working hours to the night, there is an opportunity for this. The position is full-time, but there is an option to work part-time.
