Forensic Psychiatric Emergency Unit (H1-H2)

The forensic psychiatric emergency unit (H1-H2) is located at Helix in Flemingsberg and has the highest security level (1). The emergency unit consists of two wards and an observation unit where we receive newly admitted patients.

Forensic Psychiatry Care Stockholm provides forensic psychiatric care for patients from all over Stockholm County and has approximately 550 employees distributed across two sections, north and south. The clinic has 15 care wards and 2 outpatient clinics. The operations are spread across three facilities and are located at Helix, Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, and Löwenströmska Hospital in Upplands Väsby.

In our operations, we meet daily patients suffering from severe mental disorders, often in combination with somatic health issues. Our unit receives and cares for acutely mentally ill patients primarily for care according to the Act on Forensic Psychiatric Care (LRV). We care for patients who have recently been sentenced to forensic psychiatric care, patients who are detained or clients of the correctional services in need of psychiatric compulsory care, and we also receive patients who have deteriorated during their stay in our care wards as well as from patients attending our forensic psychiatric outpatient clinic.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will be offered a stimulating and varied job. You will have a clear central leadership role on the ward with primary responsibility for care planning and will be responsible for a care team together with a number of caregivers/nursing assistants. As a nurse, you act confidently in acute situations and are part of a team of doctors, psychologists, mental caregivers/nursing assistants, social workers, and occupational therapists to create the best possible care for our patients.

You will receive an individualized introduction and thereafter we offer a salary supplement that is unique to the emergency unit. As a nurse, you will have an extended leadership responsibility during evenings and weekends. In this role, you will have a unique opportunity to work with patients with complex psychiatric needs and the opportunity to positively impact the patients' lives.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, with specialist training in psychiatry being an advantage. Previous experience working in psychiatry, addiction care, and/or correctional services is also advantageous.

In your interactions with patients, you are always professional, attentive, and non-judgmental. You are helpful but can also be clear and set boundaries when required. You have excellent collaboration skills and enjoy working in a team while also being able to work independently and lead others. To work with us, you need to be communicative, solution-oriented, and flexible in a varied workday.
