Specialist Physician in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

The hospitals in the west are an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consist of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

About the operation

The Psychiatry operation has about 300 employees and includes child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient care as well as adult psychiatric outpatient and inpatient care for the population in Ale, Kungälv, Stenungsund, and Tjörn municipalities.

Within the child and adolescent psychiatric part of the operation, about 55 employees work, including seven senior physicians and six residents.

The child and adolescent psychiatry within the operation consists of three outpatient clinics: one clinic in Stenungsund, which receives patients with all types of child and adolescent psychiatric issues, and two clinics in Kungälv that assess and treat patients with affective and neuropsychiatric conditions, respectively. For inpatient care, Drottning Silvia's Children's and Adolescent Hospital in Gothenburg is responsible.

At Kungälv Hospital, there are two subspecialized psychiatric clinics that both accept patients from the age of 16: an eating disorder unit with day care and a DBT clinic.

The activities of the clinics are characterized by high competence and a high degree of collaboration, and are conducted from a cross-professional perspective. Other professionals working at the clinics include psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and medical secretaries. We have the advantages of a small hospital with short communication paths and good collaboration with colleagues in the adult psychiatric part of the operation. Our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care, and we continuously work on developing methods and treatments.

We offer

We now have the opportunity to hire another specialist physician in child and adolescent psychiatry. You can choose which of our three clinics you wish to work at – the Affective or NP clinic in Kungälv or the Stenungsund clinic. If you have an interest in and experience with eating disorder care, there is the possibility to work part of your time at our eating disorder unit, where you will work alongside an experienced colleague from adult psychiatry.

As a specialist physician, you will work in a cross-professional team and supervise residents and other training physicians. You will participate in the development work of the clinic and the operation. During weekdays, the operation has a shared acute responsibility for the three clinics, and about one day per week you will assist the acute team, which consists of two therapists from the affective clinic (usually a social worker and a psychologist). You will answer questions and, if necessary, assess patients who may sometimes need to be referred to the child and adolescent psychiatric emergency department in Gothenburg for possible admission.

About you

We are looking for you who is a specialist physician in child and adolescent psychiatry. As a person, you are calm and secure in your role as a physician. You are structured, flexible, and have an easy time collaborating. You have a good ability to communicate and cooperate with both internal and external partners.

Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Placement

Kungälv or Stenungsund (you can choose which of our three clinics you wish to work at – the Affective or NP clinic in Kungälv or the Stenungsund clinic).

Other

We require an extract from the Police Authority's criminal record and suspicion register for all who are offered employment within the Psychiatry operation.
