Registered Nurse Wanted for Hematology, Gastroenterology, and Rheumatology Department

Do you want to be part of an engaged and multidisciplinary team, where we work together to make a difference for every patient every day?

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse and want to work nights with the possibility of rotation to days, evenings, and weekends. With us, you will have the chance to fully utilize your skills and develop in a supportive environment while we prioritize health, collaboration, and job satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities

As a nurse with us, you will be involved in exciting and developing patient work, where we act based on what is best for the patient. Your responsibilities include caring for patients with everything from acute blood disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, and liver or rheumatological diseases. Our patients require high medical care and often have complex nursing needs.

Our major diagnostic groups include acute leukemia, liver cirrhosis, acute liver failure, newly diagnosed IBD, or exacerbations of existing diseases. Many of our patients have central lines, as our diagnostic groups require intensive intravenous treatments and blood sampling. We also provide aftercare for stem cell transplants and liver transplants.

Your job duties include standard nursing tasks, including the administration of chemotherapy. You will work in a team around the patient together with doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, and dietitians. We also collaborate with our day care and outpatient clinic, as we have close cooperation regarding our patients.

"After trying care elsewhere, I chose to return to the department, twice! Here I meet complex patient groups and get to be part of a strong team - this is where I feel I can make a difference. Every day is unique and provides opportunities to develop both professionally and personally. We prioritize education and the opportunity for professional development. We are a team with a high ceiling, and there is always someone to ask and get help from, in all professional categories. The department is broad with a variety of diagnoses and treatments, which makes the work both exciting and fun. I really feel that I have come home again."

Therese, Development Nurse.

About the Workplace

The Hematology, Gastroenterology, and Rheumatology Department (BMTR) is an internal medicine department within the specialties of hematology, gastroenterology, and rheumatology. The department belongs to the Medical Clinic in Västerås. The clinic employs nearly 500 staff, where there is an opportunity to grow and develop together with us. You will be welcomed into a wonderful and competent staff group with a lot of humor. With us, there is a high ceiling, where there is always room to ask questions and seek help from colleagues.

We have something for you whether you are a newly graduated or experienced nurse. Through Region Västmanland's overarching professional development program for newly graduated nurses, combined with the clinic's own orientation program, you will receive a long-term introduction to the profession together with other newly hired staff. You can read more about the program here: introduction program (https://regionvastmanland.se/jobba-med-oss/sjukskoterska/introduktionsar/).

For us, it is important that you feel good and enjoy your job, so we offer you:

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with experience in the profession. If you have previous experience in hospital care and in the areas of hematology, gastroenterology, or rheumatology, it is an advantage. It is also beneficial if you have knowledge of the Cosmic journal system, as we use this system. To ensure good care, we see that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

You who apply have the ability to plan and structure your work effectively. A workday with us can change quickly, so we see that you can adapt in different situations while maintaining your calm and focus. As we often work in teams, we see that you have a good ability to collaborate and communicate with others. You have an empathetic and professional approach to patients, relatives, and colleagues.

Employment Conditions

Permanent employment: Full-time
Working hours: Night shifts, constant night schedule with the possibility of rotating to days, evenings, and weekends
Start date by agreement.

When rotating to night work, we follow Region Västmanland's guidelines for working time reduction. This means that if you rotate between day and night shifts during a schedule period, you will receive a four-hour reduction in working time for each night shift you work. If you work constant nights, that is, only nights during a schedule period, you work 32 hours a week if you work full-time. This can be compared to 40 or 38.15 hours, which is common for a full-time position. Since we are a 24/7 operation, we have, according to an agreement in a local agreement with the Nursing Association, enhanced on-call compensation for nurses working inconvenient hours by 40 percent.

Application

Welcome with your application by February 2, 2025.

Interviews may be conducted on an ongoing basis, so do not wait to submit your application. Attach relevant certificates and transcripts with your application.
