The operational work in our own management started in October 2025 with cleaning and maintenance of parks and green areas.

Your role

As a park worker, you contribute to creating a well-maintained and pleasant environment for the district's residents with the goal of working sustainably and long-term. Together with other park workers, gardeners, and landscape workers in the unit, you form the operational organization and have daily dialogue with the area's supervisors. The operational organization is part of the Urban Environment Unit, which is responsible for green issues in the district.

The organization's management of parks and green areas is a developing operation. Here you have the opportunity to influence development by contributing your knowledge and making improvement suggestions. The district has high ambitions regarding the environment and climate and actively works with initiatives for biodiversity. Together, you will focus on designing effective and sustainable working methods for operations that provide value for the residents and the environment in Hägersten-Älvsjö.

Job tasks

Your tasks will vary throughout the year and will include:

  • Maintenance of green areas, such as lawn mowing and weed removal
  • Cleaning
  • Pruning of trees and shrubs
  • Hedge trimming
  • Planting of trees, shrubs, and perennials.
  • Supervision of playgrounds, dog parks, outdoor gyms, etc.
  • Performing minor maintenance and repairs of park and playground equipment.

Since a large part of the work is outdoors, it is important that you enjoy working outside regardless of the weather. The unit is new and under development, which means that other tasks may occur. You will have fixed working hours, and weekend work will be scheduled. Evening work may also be required. The seasonal employment is either from the end of March to September or May to October, with a duration of 6 months.

Your qualifications and experience

Qualification requirements:

  • Driving license B for passenger cars.
  • Documented and current experience of practical work with green area maintenance.
  • Current experience of working with riding lawn mowers and handheld machines such as trimmers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.
  • Communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • High school education in, for example, gardening or landscaping, or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent and suitable for the position.
  • Experience and certification for the use of chainsaws class AB and brush cutters class RA.
  • Experience and knowledge of nature conservation maintenance.
  • Knowledge of and interest in working environmentally consciously with green issues.
  • Knowledge of maintenance of handheld machines.
  • Knowledge in craft services, such as carpentry and painting.
  • Training in playground safety, SS-EN 1176 and SS-EN 16630 for outdoor gyms.
  • Training in Work on the Road level 1 and 2.
  • Experience with digital tools in operations.
  • Training in Hot Work.

As a park worker, you meet the residents of Hägersten-Älvsjö daily and are the face of the district, so good service and a friendly demeanor are a given for you. You are persistent and work independently and enjoy working outdoors. You thrive in teamwork with colleagues and have the ability to easily adapt to changing tasks and priorities.
