Do you want to help create a sustainable and attractive urban environment that adds value for the residents and the environment in Järva? We have transitioned to operating parks and green areas in-house and are now seeking dedicated gardeners.

The Järva district is on an exciting journey of change where we have taken over the management of waste collection and maintenance of parks and green areas in municipal administration. The Järva district consists of the neighborhoods of Akalla, Husby, Kista, Rinkeby, Tensta, Hjulsta, Bromsten, Flysta, Lunda, Sundby, and Solhem, home to over 90,000 residents.

As a gardener, you will be part of the new unit for the management of parks and green areas. The unit consists of three team leaders and a team of gardeners and park workers led by a unit manager. The group operates from a shared facility in Sundby, which includes a workshop, machinery hall, storage, cafeteria, and offices. As of October 2025, the unit will take over the management of waste collection and maintenance of parks and green areas in their entirety. Winter road maintenance is not included in the unit's operational assignment.

Your role

As a gardener, you contribute to creating a well-maintained and pleasant environment for the residents of Järva, with the goal of working long-term, sustainably, and circularly. Together with the park workers in the unit, you form the park group and have daily dialogue with the three team leaders of the operational area.

You have deep knowledge and understanding of the outdoor environment's needs and see it as natural to share your knowledge and experiences with your colleagues in the park group.

Your tasks will vary throughout the year and may include:

• Pruning trees and shrubs
• Hedge trimming
• Planting trees, shrubs, and perennials, etc.
• Brush clearing
• Nature conservation maintenance
• Identifying improvement measures related to plants and green areas in the operational area
• Green area maintenance such as weeding, lawn mowing, and litter collection.

Both the role and the unit are new and under development, which means that other tasks may occur. You have fixed working hours, and weekend work may occur in connection with holidays and during peak season.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• Gardener education or other training that the employer deems equivalent and suitable for the position
• Documented and current experience of practical work with green area maintenance
• Good plant knowledge of trees, shrubs, and perennials
• Good knowledge of tree care
• Current experience working with handheld machines such as trimmers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers
• Driver's license (B) for passenger cars
• Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience and certification for using chainsaws and/or brush cutters
• Experience and knowledge of nature conservation maintenance
• Knowledge of craft services, such as carpentry, welding, and painting
• Experience in the installation of hard surfaces
• Proficiency in languages other than Swedish and English
• Good IT skills in Office package

As a gardener, you meet the residents of Järva daily and are the face of the district administration.
