The Rehabilitation Medical Care Ystad serves all inpatient departments at the Hospital in Ystad. The area of responsibility also includes rehabilitation within specialized outpatient care and specialized day rehabilitation at the hospital. The unit consists of approximately 40 employees with various professions, such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, rehabilitation assistants, nursing assistants, medical secretaries, and nurses. We work in teams with other professions within the hospital's various departments and clinics. Within our occupational therapist group, we meet regularly to plan the operations and share our different areas of expertise with each other, which gives you the opportunity to further develop within your profession.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The position is combined between our neurology department and training of stroke patients in the patient's home environment, Early Supported Discharge (ESD).

You will work with the hospital's neurology department where your tasks include, among other things, assessing activity ability, hand function, cognition, and assistive device needs during and after hospital care, as well as training with the patients. The work is performed together with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation assistants, social workers, and ward staff. In your role, you actively work for a good care time and a safe discharge for the patient through close collaboration with municipalities and primary care, where you play a significant and important role in the collaboration process during discharge.

As an occupational therapist in ESD, you will assess and rehabilitate patients with mild to moderate strokes in their homes, which has proven to be an effective way to improve outcomes and quality of rehabilitation in the early phase. You will do this together with a physiotherapist and a rehabilitation assistant.

You work person-centered with the patient and set goals together with the patient that you help them achieve through training. You need to be aware that in the patient's home environment, you will meet and communicate with relatives, and be able to manage environments with pets and potential smoke odors.

You will also be offered an individually tailored introduction and mentorship from an experienced colleague. Supervision of students may be included in the work. Weekend work is included in the position.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who are applying are a licensed occupational therapist with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Your language skills correspond to at least level C1 in Swedish according to the Council of Europe’s scale. Furthermore, a B driver's license is required. Basic computer skills and experience with the Melior journal system are desirable. Experience in inpatient care and work within neurology is an advantage.

We are looking for someone who wants to work in inpatient care and rehabilitate patients in their home environment. The work is both team-based and independent, which requires you to have good collaboration skills as well as the ability to structure and plan your days. We also see that you are responsible and flexible and can quickly adapt to changing circumstances. Creativity and initiative are an asset as rehabilitation must be tailored to the patient's needs and situation. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
