Social Worker for the Placement Team at the Youth Unit
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Hägersten-Älvsjö is one of 11 district administrations in Stockholm City with about 3000 employees. Today, we are one of the city's largest districts with approximately 130,000 residents. In Hägersten-Älvsjö, you have close access to the city, transportation, and nature. We offer a dynamic workplace with opportunities for you to develop in your role.
Welcome to us
Are you driven by the desire to make a difference in the lives of young people and families? Do you want to contribute to giving all youth the best conditions during their placement time? We are now looking for two dedicated social workers for the placement team at the youth unit.
In the youth unit, we have an investigation group and a placement team. Each group has a group leader. The group leader leads our employees in their daily work. Eight social workers work in the placement team.
In the unit, we also have SIG coordinators, school coordinators, targeted contact persons, and social workers with the police. We have contract coordinators in the unit who provide operational support for social workers when our youth are facing a placement. We also have a contract controller who ensures that we use serious actors. Quality is important to us!
The youth unit is part of the operational area for children, youth, and families in Hägersten-Älvsjö, together with five other units: reception, children, youth and children, foster homes, and family support. The operational area is led by an area manager and six unit managers.
We offer
We actively work to create a good and sustainable working environment where we value employee development and competence. We operate based on our values, which include participation, responsibility, respect, clarity, and development, and we also offer external supervision. Each employee has an individual competence development plan that is coordinated and followed up regularly. Our mentors put together an introduction during your first year with us. This is tailored to your experiences and needs and is followed up by the group leader and unit manager.

Your role
As a social worker in the placement team, you will work with follow-ups according to SoL and LVU. We use BBIC for the follow-up of youth placed in SiS institutions, HVB homes, treatment families, emergency families, supported housing, and training apartments. We also have co-placements with LSS. The work also includes investigating and assessing the needs of our placed youth. As a social worker in the placement team, you often take on a consultative role in placement matters.
Together with open care, the placement team works to shorten the placement time with the goal of allowing youth to return home to their families. The placement team has also been given the opportunity to create and develop new routines in the unit and methodologically develop the work. This is something we will continue with in the coming years.
We also look forward to continuing to invest in SAVRY assessments together with the investigative youth group and implementing the method in the placement team regarding the target group. We believe in focusing on families' strengths and work according to the Signs of Safety model. We have coaches in the unit who drive the work forward.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- A degree in social work
- Several years of relevant experience in public authority work with children and youth
- Good knowledge of SoL (Social Services Act) or LVU (Act on Special Provisions concerning the Care of Young People)
- Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
It is an advantage if you have experience with:
- A valid driver's license as travel with the administration's service car is required.
You believe in every individual's potential for change and see the family network as a positive driving force. You are stable and comfortable with being able to set demands on service providers while being humble about the complexity of our shared issues. You have the ability to flexibly and structurally drive the work forward both independently and in collaboration with colleagues and partners. It is important that you have a strong interest in continuing to develop and improve work methods within social work together with the team.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
