Support Assistant for LSS Residence in Östersund

We are now looking for a support assistant for our LSS residence located centrally in Östersund. Here, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our citizens and actively contribute to increasing their independence, participation, and quality of life.

The working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, sleeping on-call, and weekends. On weekdays, shifts are scheduled at various times between 08:45-23:00. One shift includes sleeping on-call and a continued working shift until 10:00 the following day. On weekends, shifts are also scheduled at various times between 08:45-23:00, and the person on weekend on-call works between 20:00-23:00, including on-call until 09:00 the following day. You will work according to a laundry room schedule, which gives you a good opportunity to influence your schedule based on the existing guidelines.

Start date is according to agreement.

Your New Job

With us, every citizen should have the opportunity to live as meaningful and independent a life as possible, based on their own conditions. At our LSS residence, you will work closely with citizens with high-functioning autism and neuropsychiatric diagnoses, supporting them through planned interventions, both at home and in the community.

Your role includes contributing to safety and predictability in daily life through a professional and low-arousal approach. You will work a lot on preparing citizens for different situations and activities, aiming to reduce stress and prevent behaviors that may require extra care. The operation is characterized by a preventive approach and a KASAM-inspired perspective, where comprehensibility, manageability, and meaningfulness are central elements. The work is varied and includes everything from support in daily chores, medication management, personal care, and social interaction to accompaniment and support during various activities. It is also common for you to participate as an escort and support citizens during vacation trips.

An important part of the assignment is to build secure relationships with citizens and support them in creating and maintaining contact with relatives, friends, and their social network, aiming to reduce isolation and increase participation in society. In daily work, we also use the operational support Boet for planning and implementing interventions. Documentation is done in our journal system Viva, MCSS, and DF-respons. You will be part of a cross-professional context where you collaborate with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, district nurses, and other authorities, including psychiatry, in connection with follow-ups and questions regarding medication.

To Thrive in the Role, You Need

to be secure in yourself, have a calm and respectful demeanor, and be persistent, flexible, and cooperative. Experience in psychiatry or educational work is advantageous, as we work with psychiatric issues and clarifying pedagogy at our residence.

Your Qualifications

Requirements

  • Trained support assistant, nursing assistant, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form

Desirable

  • Good computer skills
  • Experience working with individuals with autism and/or neuropsychiatric disabilities
  • Experience working in psychiatry
  • Experience in educational work
  • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing
  • Driver's license
