Unit Manager for Public Environment

The Public Environment unit is a newly established unit within the Community Sector. We are looking for someone who wants to help shape the municipality's future public environments, becoming one of the key people in the municipality's community development and an important function in the start-up and establishment of the new unit.

In the managerial role, you act as a link between the politically assigned task and its implementation. Your mission as a manager and leader in our municipality is to work together with your employees to help the municipality achieve its vision and goals. This is a team effort where good employee and leadership is a prerequisite for achieving results, meeting new needs, improving work methods, and quality. You contribute to the development of the operations.

As a unit manager, you will lead the work to develop the public environment, which encompasses everything from streets and squares, parks, playgrounds to forest land, tourism, and outdoor life. The unit also includes the Vansbro municipal swimming pool and gym, as well as the Vansbro city network, where the lifeguard and fiber coordinator manage the operations of these services. The role of unit manager within the public environment has a wide range of varied tasks, including handling authority matters, and you will collaborate with many different actors to help create a good, safe, and sustainable external environment for the municipality's residents and businesses.

You will:

• contribute to the municipality's long-term development and sustainability, drive development projects, and be part of the management team for the Community Sector
• lead, plan, and organize the operations based on set goals
• develop the operations within established financial frameworks
• support employees so they have the opportunity to grow and develop in their roles
• have economic, work environment, and personnel responsibility
• collaborate with internal and external actors
• lead and act based on the assignment and work with a holistic view in a politically governed organization
• create trust and confidence among your employees
• prepare decision-making documents according to applicable legislation (Municipal, Administrative, Public Access, and Confidentiality laws, as well as the Education Act and others) and participate in the implementation of political decisions
• perform certain authority supervision in the form of monitoring contracts against providers as well as monitoring and preparing the municipality's regulatory areas
• play a key role in driving long-term processes within the transport infrastructure area.

You must have:

• university/college education with a focus on infrastructure, urban planning, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position
• knowledge of personnel and economic issues, labor law, work environment, and competence supply
• several years of work experience at a strategic level
• experience in producing documentation, writing, and analyzing in writing
• good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing
• good knowledge of English communication
• driver's license (B).

It is advantageous if you also have:

• knowledge and experience of regional and national transport infrastructure planning
• knowledge of the national and regional transport plan and its implementation process
• knowledge and experience in process management and organizing and conducting meetings
• experience in working with anchoring and municipal decision-making processes
• good understanding of work in a politically governed organization.
