The Surgical Clinic at Falu Hospital is a place where competence and care meet. Here, about 40 dedicated employees - nurses, nursing assistants, and administrators - work closely with doctors to provide our patients with the best care.
We are located on three floors and are organized into six teams: Endocrine, Vascular, Plastic, Upper GI, Lower GI, and Urology. Team spirit is strong here, and we support each other in our daily work. As a manager, you will be an important part of this - you lead, inspire, and create conditions for development and job satisfaction.
Your role as a manager also includes responsibility for the clinic's sluice operations and our surgical coordinators, who work every day to optimize our surgical operations. The surgical clinic also consists of three inpatient departments with a goal of 60 care places, as well as two additional clinics: oncology and bariatric clinics. A total of 300 employees work at the clinic.
Annually, we perform:
- 4,000-4,500 surgeries (central surgery, day surgery, and outpatient procedures)
- approximately 13,000 visits to the emergency department
- approximately 25,000 outpatient visits
- approximately 4,700 inpatient care occasions
Sustainable Managers - 1st Line Manager Shared Leadership Surgical Clinic Job Responsibilities
Do you want to make a difference with us? We are now looking for a manager in shared leadership for our surgical clinic.
Why shared leadership?
Surgery is intensive and complex. In our units with large assignments, we therefore invest in shared leadership - for a reasonable work environment, quality over time, and sustainable managers. This is a joint managerial assignment with shared mandate, joint decisions, and close collaboration.
Each employee has their primary placement in one department/clinic but also bears a shared responsibility for the overall surgical clinic. This also applies to leadership. As a manager, you are responsible for your unit while also overseeing the clinic's overall mission. The management team works together for the whole - quality, work environment, and business development in the overarching mission.
As a 1st line manager in shared leadership, you and your managerial colleague are responsible for about 40 employees, nurses, and nursing assistants.
The assignment includes:
- leading daily operations
- responsibility for quality, patient safety, and work environment
- improvement and development work
- budget, resource planning, and financial follow-up
You collaborate closely with doctors, support functions, and other managers, with support from HR, finance, and business developers. You are part of the clinic's management team.
We are looking for a managerial colleague who thrives in shared leadership and is comfortable leading in a daily environment that requires judgment and flexibility, where solutions are formed in dialogue rather than following given standard paths. The position is a permanent employment in your core profession with an appointment as a manager for 3 years with the possibility of extension.
Are you curious about the assignment and want to know more before you decide? Feel free to reach out for an informal conversation.
Other InformationQualificationsWe are looking for someone who has:
- University education in health and medical care
- Ability to take responsibility for quality, work environment, and patient safety
- Good understanding of the complexity of outpatient care
- A strong commitment and drive for the assignment
We would also like you to have:
- Experience or a strong interest in management or leadership
- Interest in development and improvement work
- Experience of collaboration across organizational boundaries
To thrive in the assignment, you need to be:
- secure, clear, and attentive
- collaborative and unpretentious
- structured and flexible
- comfortable leading together and prioritizing for the whole
We place great importance on personal suitability.
