About the Community Development Administration

The Community Development Administration plays a central role in the future of the municipality.

Here we work with plans, building permits, roads, streets, traffic, public transport, maps, land, environment, and broadband/fiber. We are also responsible for business issues, culture, and leisure.

Right now, we are facing an exciting phase of development! The Idre area is undergoing rapid development with extensive planning work where the mountain facilities are being developed while we balance values related to reindeer husbandry, nature conservation, and cultural heritage. We have significant investments in infrastructure ahead of us, including investments in pedestrian and cycling paths and other infrastructure. Our business strategy outlines clear paths forward with the goal of becoming the best in Dalarna for the business climate, where the keys are service and responsiveness.

Do you want to help create the community where people want to live, work, and thrive? We are now looking for a driven and committed unit manager who wants to lead our community unit into the future. Here you will have a key role in the municipality's development and the opportunity to make a real impact!

What we offer you

As an employee of Älvdalen Municipality, you will work closely with both citizens and decision-makers in an organization that values engagement and professionalism. You will have opportunities for professional development through initiatives such as LeDa Dalarna, a collaboration with Dalarna University, and we offer good benefits that make a difference in everyday life.

Some examples of our benefits:

  • Wellness allowance or one wellness hour per week
  • Vacation exchange
  • Flexible working hours
  • Free swimming once a week at the municipality's swimming facilities

Quality of life in a mountain-adjacent location:

The municipality's unique geography provides fantastic opportunities for recreational activities year-round. In winter, you can cross-country ski on well-prepared trails throughout the municipality, not least the classic Vasaloppet trail. Summer offers magnificent hiking in both mountains and forests. As a registered resident of the municipality, you receive favorable prices at the mountain facilities in the Idre area, and children in primary school have free lift passes.

This is what you will be working on

As the unit manager for the community unit, you are at the center of the municipality's future! You lead the unit that makes a difference every day, from detailed plans that create new residential areas to building permits that enable construction and development, from roads that connect people to broadband initiatives that digitalize the municipality's citizens and businesses.

In your role, you have overall budget, operational, and personnel responsibility, which means you manage resources, prioritize efforts, and develop employees' competencies. Your areas of work span planning, building, and environment as well as roads, streets, traffic, public transport, maps, land, environment, and broadband/fiber. It is truly the pulse of the municipality's development!

Lead with heart – create with brain

You drive the operation forward through smart planning, efficient processes, and innovative solutions. With a coaching and present leadership style, you create a workplace where everyone thrives and grows. You recruit, develop, and inspire your staff to deliver world-class quality and service. You see the opportunities in new technology that simplifies things for employees, citizens, and entrepreneurs alike.

Your network – your strength

You are a natural spider in the web! In the management team, you contribute your expertise, representing the unit with weight towards politicians, and with businesses, the region, and other actors, you build the relationships that drive the municipality forward.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about community development and sees leadership as a way to create conditions for others to flourish. You want to make a real difference, and you know that the best way is to build a strong team where everyone contributes their expertise.

The leader who makes things happen

You are the one who gets others to choose Älvdalen Municipality both as an employer and as a place to establish themselves. With your clear, inclusive, and coaching leadership style, you create trust and engagement. You are secure in yourself, dare to make decisions and stand by them while listening to other perspectives.

You see the big picture without losing sight of the details. You are strategic but also practical. You communicate just as well with a business owner over a cup of coffee as with politicians in a formal meeting. You build bridges and thrive in the role of ambassador for both your unit and the entire municipality.

Education and experience required

  • University education with a relevant focus, such as community planning, civil engineering, technology, law, administration, or leadership, or other knowledge or work experience that the employer deems equivalent.
