Unit Manager for the Food Unit in Leksand Municipality

Your Responsibilities

As the unit manager for the food unit, you have a broad and responsible role. You lead the unit with a focus on the municipality's values and create a positive work environment where structure and clarity are central. You are responsible for personnel, work environment, quality, economy, and results within your area.

You work strategically to develop the operations and ensure that resources are used effectively in line with the municipality's economic goals. By developing and implementing action plans and strategies, you contribute to achieving the municipality's overall goals and visions.

You follow up and evaluate the unit's results, initiate improvement projects, and ensure that the operations comply with laws, regulations, and municipal guidelines. The role also involves representing the food unit internally and externally, collaborating with the department head, other unit managers, and external actors, as well as handling feedback and complaints in a professional manner.

Examples of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the food unit's budget and resource management
  • Develop and implement strategies and action plans
  • Participate in the municipality's crisis preparedness work
  • Together with colleagues, be responsible for specific focus areas

Your Profile

For this role, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant university education or other education or experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Leadership experience in restaurants or large kitchens, preferably with a chef's education or degree in nutrition
  • Several years of documented leadership experience, preferably in public operations
  • Good knowledge of data and Swedish (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Experience in budget work, financial follow-up, change management, and development work

About the Workplace

The department is part of the Sector of Operational Support and has about 140 employees within the departments: Administration, Finance and Payroll, HR, IT, Communication, Security and Preparedness, Food and Cleaning, and Customer Service. The sector's mission is to create the best conditions for other sectors in the municipality to focus on their core operations.

Within the food and cleaning department, you will be part of a management group with the department head, unit managers, and administrative coordinators. Within the food unit, you will lead together with a unit manager assigned areas with head chefs, cooks, meal assistants, food distributors, and combined services. The unit has about 50 employees divided into 7 receiving kitchens and 8 production kitchens that produce food for preschools, schools, high schools, and special accommodations within Leksand Municipality.
